The best 1500 runners have never contested the mile very often. It is completely obscure on the European circuit. A Kenyan on the street does not have any idea how many meters there are to a mile.
Without the best actually running the even, this ranking means very little. It's like being 5th all-time in the 1000. Great. But not nearly as meaningful as a real event.
3:51.0 is worth about 3:33.7 for Rupp.
lol, what a doosh. What's your PB, hater.

2.5 seconds off the world indoor record doesn't mean anything? On an outdoor track Rupp would FOR SURE go sub 3:30 for a 1500. And about 3:47 for a mile

The 1500 conversion still puts him top 20 all-time indoors. Not bad for a 10k guy in the middle of the season winning by 50 meters.

LOL. You are a total clown. Unable to argue with my obviously correct points, you attack my PR?? Um, OK.
By the way, learn to use the quote function. And question marks.

I agree. It's excellent!
All I'm saying is that it's eons from the 3:28 that fanboys have been predicting.

Please explain your logic on this.
By ANY mile-1500 conversion out there, 3:50.9 is worth about 3:33.3-3:33.8.
Do you think he's got 3.5-4.0 seconds in reserve there? I hope so. But doubt it.
Rupp is quickly becoming my all time favourite athlete. BEAST
1)The the indoor season is still early
2) Outdoor is typically faster then indoor
3) He already ran 3:34 last year off of mostly 5k/10k work
He had to have been doing mile specific training before his 3:50.92 so imagine what he could run while doing a whole season of mile pace work. Thats the only way I believe he could run sub 3:30
Rupp is like Webb and Fernandez, running highly ranked miles that don't mean shit.

Fair enough.
But even with 1.0 for seasonal progress (optimistic, I think, as Rupp often runs times near his best in Jan-Feb), and 1.5-2.0 for the indoor-->outdoor conversion (Rupp is tiny; I don't see the effect being all that much at mile pace), I don't see it happening.
Like I said, I hope so. But then, I also hope Rudisha goes 1:39.x before he's done. I just wouldn't bet on it.
mind=blown.
Wish I'd watched! Seemed like too much of a pain to find, now I regret it big time!
Anyway, this is really exciting! Go Rupp!

OK, so you and Rupp-Certified Butth0le are underwhelmed by a 3:50 in January. What WOULD impress you from a 5k/10k guy? Running a mile on water?

You're a moron to make that comment off how many people suggesting 3:28?

Denny is always good for an inane thought or two.
