I was at the meet. It was obvious that Robby wasn't concerned at all with time. He didn't lead until around the last lap after a 55 second opening quarter.
Easing into racing...that was very easy for him.
Robby Andrews was scanning the stands for his hot shorty the whole time
A dominating victory:
Men 800 Meter Run
1 Andrews, Robby Unattached X1:51.41
2 Parker, Christopher Lafayette 1:53.40 10
3 Williams, Michael Princeton 1:53.64 8
4 Paternostro, Bradley Princeton 1:53.75 6
5 Perrier, Gregory Manhattan 1:53.99 5
6 Bekelja, Mato PENN 1:56.16 4
7 Guiod, Matt Lock Haven 1:56.62 3
8 Owusu-Mensah, Prince Virginia Sta 1:56.72 2
9 Pittman, Justin Virginia Sta 1:57.49 1

Has Andrews ever led a race before the last lap?

He didn't even break a sweat, Robby is going to dominate the sport until 2016 Rio and then really start breaking records

Maybe not in College but in High School yea he has

In a low key season opener! Andrews isn't the kind of guy who comes out and solos a 1:46 in his first race.
Just for comparison, he opened with a 1:19.35 600 in 2010 indoors. By the end of outdoor he had run 1:45.54.
So just to clarify, it was a pro runner who has been training with Webb, dominating a bunch of college kids?
No it was a college age runner who happens to run professionally beating a bunch of other great runners
andrews is just looking to get back to his usual self after the webb - drop university - olympic trials fiasco.
so 151 without competition will do.
It was a mistake to say anything
POT last 24 hours.
He is DONE. Galen Rupp would never sandbag a race like that. Just pathetic- Rupp would demolish Curly Andrews from 800-100km

Still hardly newsworthy

I'm sure that kid from Loch Haven was going to be the next David Rudisha before keg parties derailed him.
It's not his fault he's a beer cravin', party ravin', pistol wavin' kid from New Haven.
i wish there were a picture of robby andrews pistol wavin'
