Maybe because he didn't sell his house when he left last time and didn't want to take a huge hit? Or maybe just because he needs some people to run with.
My guess is the move has less to do about running and more about Julia's love of the show Portlandia.
SALAZAR
can we lay out all possible coaches for Webb? obviously they have to be nike sponsored and in the portland area. so we have:
Salazar
Shumacher
Rowland (I know he's Eugene based, but who knows)
Who else is a possibility?
McDonald's
And the Webb soap opera continues. I love this stuff. I really do.
Whomever will have him (Cook won't).
Seems like the choice would be:
Salazar again- Training partners would be Centro and Ulrey, with a bit of overlap with Rupp, Ritz, and Farah.
vs.
Schumacher- Training partners would be Lomong and Fernandez, with a bit of overlap with Solinsky, Bairu, Teg, Jager, and Bumbi.
That's assuming Webb is still trying to be mostly a miler. Maybe he's thinking about moving up to being a 5000/10000 or road racing guy and doing the same workouts as the older guys.
OTC Eugene would mean no training partners in Portland and mostly long-distance attention from Rowland, which doesn't seem like a great set-up.

I'm really really really really really really sorry..."

I do think retirement at this point would be the best option. Time to move on with life. But I can understand how he wants to give it one last shot.
Schumacher, right? Can't imagine Salazar wants to deal with Webb again.

I have heard AlSal is definitely a no go.
He dropped Salazar because he didn't have any 1500 guys to train with right? Now they have Ulrey and Centro. Ritz is healthy again so he could actually train with Ritz this time. I want to see one more epic race with Ritz and Webb. But Webb has to get in shape first.
He's probably joining Schumacher. I don't think it'll pan out though. Maybe Raczko is moving to Portland too?

Raczko - not a chance. Reportedly, former Athletics West coach Harry Johnson may be a possibility.

I seriously lol'd.
How can he afford to move back and forth on his budget now that he sucks and in this economy?
If he really is, eating at McDonalds actually makes a lot of sense.

McDonalds is not cheap. Big Mac cost six f*cking dollars! Hell, I can eat at the health food store cheaper.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
