nick is a hoss. when is it going down?
So, 10second beers paired with 60 second laps would give 4:41-4:42 minus whatever extra he has left last lap.
Can't see the record not going down.
Doesn't Nick hold the current record?
He does not: http://www.beermile.com/records/ref_wr
What is impressive with the current record holder is the beer that he drank. "Granville Island Winter Ale", sounds like it would be a tad heavier than a Bud or Miller Lite.
This beer is 5.5% (Canadian measurement, which must specify the MINIMUM alcohol by volume, as opposed to average or maximum (and some US measure by weight)).
Nick was probably the OP.
If Symmonds was the OP he should have posted whether his downing time was FAT or hand-timed.

8.9 is hand-timed. All you have to do is look at the digits after the decimal.
Somebody tell him that he has turn the can upside down to show there is no more liquid inside it, if not the record wont be official
Is he serious with this stuff? Why would he do this? No respect...
Agreed. Why isn't he in cryofreeze awaiting the start of the next season? Pro runners aren't allowed to enjoy themselves in any way.
I know his current "PR" was done with cans that were not tipped upside down, and at least 1 still had beer in it when he "finished." But lets be real. 5:09 is weak sauce for him at this point. <4:45 is my bet.
1. In the video it sounds like he says 8.98.
2. It looked like Nick was fumbling with the can and had difficulty getting a good grip on the tab. The timer didn't begin until Nick opened. In the race he will not have this advantage.
3. Each beer he chugs will get slower and slower. He will be out of breath, belly filling with beer and sloshing around.
I think a lot of people underestimate the beer mile. Just because you are a fast runner and can chug a beer fast does not mean you can run a fast beer mile. That being said, I would love to see him shatter the record.

Wow. I can hand-time myself with a watch showing 0.xx, or even 0.xxx, accuracy and claim it was FAT. Amazing stuff to learn here on letsrun.
Boy I bet your're a joy to knock back a few brews with.

Since it hasn't come up, has nobody here ever bothered to look at the official beer mile top times before? Maybe take a look at the top-10 times. Maybe look at #5 specifically...
(was quite a while ago)
Before somebody asks, since we as humans are lazy... (I ought to know better)
I will have this record.
