I, like many, am still freaking the balls out.
Two-medal Galen? IT COULD HAPPEN. THIS IS AN INSANE STATEMENT.

hell win
Nothing more to do now besides win
Rupp is going to win the 5,000m.
He'll get 4th.
I agree...he could easily call 2012 a fantastic success with just his silver medal here, may as well go balls to the wall and try to win it all in the 5000.
Farah, Rupp and Lagat. Gold, silver and bronze. What would G. Mutai done in the 10k? Eff you Athletics Kenya. Let this be a lesson to you.

Doubtful if those 12:4X Ethiopians are in the race. Everyone in the 10000m was out of shape compared to the 5000. So if Rupp pulls off a medal in the 5000, that will indeed be incredible.

Is that why Mo got a silver in the 10000m before winning the 5000m last year? Clearly everyone in the 10000 is out of shape
Yeah but Farah did get silver to a guy very similar to those young, fast, and somewhat unheralded Ethiopian wild cards that are in the 5 instead of the 10 this year. The 5 will for sure be a tougher race for both Galen and Mo, but I think they are up for the challenge and can't wait to watch.

I don't think you thought about your statement very much.
Think about the difference in the 5000m last year and what those Ethiopians did in the 5000m a month ago.
Then in the 10000m. The guy that beat Farah was not even in today's race was he? That's just adding to my point. Tadesse and both Bekele's are clearly out of shape with a last lap of ~55 in a 27:30ish race.
The competition in the 5000m will be MUCH tougher which is what I said before. There's no way you can't agree.
Getting my predictions in early for this one
Farah
Geb
Rupp
Lagat
Koech
I'm gonna bet bronze.
Prediction: Dejen Gebremeskel gets the gold, then fails a drug test and the gold goes to second place
Yes, of course Gebremeskel is in the race. So is Ike Kip L Koech. And many of the other ass-kickers from Diamond League Paris.
Apparently, most of the people posting here did NOT see DL Paris. Or for that matter, many DL meets at all, or they wouldn't be raving about that 10,000 so much. The 10,000 was pretty much the B team for Kenya and Ethiopia, the guys who couldn't make the 5000 team and had no kick. When even Gebremariam refused to push the pace, it was clear who would win.
The 5000 is the A heat. The big league. Lagat and Rupp are not in the same league as Gebremeskel, Gebrhiwet and Isaiah Kiplangat. And there's nothing Nike technology can do about it.
i think the race will be too fast compared to the 10k. i mean im sure rupp will be up there but i wouldnt bet on a medal.
I absolutely agree that G Mutai should've been in the 10,000. He probably wouldn't have beaten Farah or Rupp, but he could've outkicked the BroBekeles. Athletics Kenya has absolutely destroyed their country's chances at maximum medals this year.
Pretty sure Lagan has romped on them every chance he has over 5k so I don't see how he isn't in their league. CLEARLY they aren't in lagats, moron.
Remember that part where I said, most of these guys didn't even watch the DL season? You just volunteered yourself as a prime example.
I don't think Lagat's scaring anybody with his SB of 13:22.82.
he'll win 13:06.8 put it in the books
