Glad to hear the surgery went well and I wish him a speedy recovery.
I just signed up for twitter as a follower of Lukas. Glad the surgery went well. Still waiting on Brent to organize a get well card.
Still wondering what the surgery was for, besides the collarbone. That wouldn't have made his condition "serious"

These things take time. It can't be just any old card.

Maybe we could get the card hand made by someone's cousin in Lithuania, and then take donations to fly them over to personally deliver it?
That sounds fine. Does his cousin have a website of other cards he has made?
What about a nice fruit basket?

Listen. I'm not against fruit baskets. I never said I was against fruit baskets. I'm half a fruit basket myself after all. I don't know why you guys keep saying I'm insisting on sending a card when I've CLEARLY been open to fruit baskets the whole time! Its just that my friend, Lucases cousin makes terrific hand made cards and it will be something that Lukas can look at and cherish forever. Do whatever you guys want. I don't see anyone else stepping up with ideas. Screw it. I'm down to 7 miles a week barely a mile a day because of this project. If anybody had a better idea I can get behind it. Otherwise stop being so negative. ITS A CARD FOR LUKAS! WHOSE WITH ME?

I guess the card is an okay idea. But my friend is a great fruit basket preparer and he specializes in just this kind of work. I'd like to fly him in from Venezuela to deliver the basket. Of course, first he'll have to travel around Central and South American handpicking the perfect fruit. And obviously he'll have to pick up the wood for the basket in Africa before traveling to Ireland so that our other friend can assemble the basket from the African wood. Should cost around $35,000, but this IS NOT TOO MUCH TO DO.

POW!
Great laughs, one can only hope that Lukas has been following the board pre accident and post, enough to get the joke....
Kudos on this thread.
I have to blink to make sure I'm reading this accurately. Another poster reaches out to comfort a fellow poster who has shared some very, very dark times with his running brethren. And you have the gall to not only denigrate, but also poke fun at his noble actions? But if I'm going to add to this cesspool of a thread, allow me one suggestion: try practicing some compassion, if just once in your life. You'd be surprised at the results.
They're poking fun at the fact that getting some photos taken, which while nice doesn't measurably improve his situations, somehow costs thousands of dollars. I clicked on that thread expecting it to be donations for his care or his kids or something. The fact that it was for some guy's friend to take photos really turned me off.

If you had the full picture, you would see what a dumba$$ that guy was for pressuring someone who has terminal cancer into allowing a fundraiser for $7500, not for desperately needed funds to support his familys basic needs, such as food, housing and utilities. No its to make a photobook with my buddy who is a out of work photographer from the great white north. If you had any compassion you would realize what a tool that guy was for pushing that project on him and his family. Brent promised that guys wife this photo project would get done before he ever raised a dollar of that money. Was that showing compassion? Lieing to a dying mans family? Bugging him with e-mails about a stupid photo project while the guy is trying to fight through pain and tears to figure out how to take car of his family after he's gone. Don't tell me about compassion. If you had any, you would understand. I'm not the problem.
