maybe the gator and it's wheels took wide turns to make it an 8k and the runners took the least distance from point to point to make it 200 meters less

Nice win for the U in Newburgh Saturday. Best not overlook them in Sartoga this Saturday.

And here I was thinking Geneseo was actually fast! Silly me it's just a short course.
So having a GPS in a fast moving Cart that is the way to measure a course these days ? Was the wheel in there too ? Liars... I saw everyone in the cart while they were waiting for the start NO one was wearing a GPS watch and I was with the coach who GPS'd and wheeled the course morning off its 200 meters short end of story. Not a huge deal but that is a 35 second difference still great times but not as crazy as they look. We will see at regional's thats all I have to say ...[/quote]
Another guy looking in from the outside and doesn't understand what he sees. The course was measured long before Saturday's meet. The course was also measured 4 different times before Saturday morning. The initial measurement was 5.01; we shaved it down to 4.97 in the second measurement and then we measured it 2 more times before Saturday - 2 measurements done with a gps walk and 2 measurements done with a digital wheel.
Accuracy? Absolutely! We're all about that.

Different course took out the nasty gravel section in the woods and it was 200 meters shorter measured with a GPS watch and a wheel. It's a better course now just short and none of that crappy gravel!
Go and find people who ran both Rochester and Letchworth Park. You'll see that Letch ran about 10 - 15 seconds slower on most women and 7 - 12 seconds slower on most men. Don't know what that proves other than Letch is probably the distance they say it was. I gpsed the women's and it was right on the money - 3.72 (took the tangents too). Didn't have time to do the men's.
Apparently you have never been to Oneonta's course, its just like this years regional course... mostly flat with a decent hill you do a few times. I've been to both and there is little difference.
Actually made the trip out to Letchworth today, brought my meter stick with me. Got exactly 8000 lengths of my stick.

Please don't believe this person. A stick is flat and is, frankly, a poor tool to measure a surface with the kinds of undulations and elevation variations that a cross country course has. The course was certainly short
Agreed. GPS watches are accurate when a runner runs under 5 min pace/mile and inaccurate when in a cart moving 15 miles an hour, just makes sense. As far as I can see the times at Geneseo were consistent with what I would expect to see for an 8k. It's interesting because it's difficult to tell how good they are based on their performances so far. There is no way to compare the times to the pre regional course because of their tactics and the penn state course is 5.2 and in rain so it is also impossible to compare to this weekend.

Real sad to see Coach Susan retire, she earned it. A bittersweet time for the Atlantic Region. My heart goes out to her for all the hard work she put in. Hope she enjoys her time with her kids and grandkids. I remember when she first started coaching back in the late 80's, man did she have a rocking body.

Congrats Geneseo fans, you have proved that you care more about the distance of your course rather than how fast your athletes run the course...
The Woodsy doth protest too much, methinks.

Oh no table, we're equally excited about that. Good luck keeping up!

She is stricken with a lot of grief over the late van.

Turns out this wasn't so voluntary. I've heard allegations that her conduct with student-athletes was unbecoming of a coach. We could have a scandal on our hands here.
The best thing about this thread is how you see maybe 1 person from each team that sneaks on here and jerks off their school, but then with Geneseo I would almost bet 10 people on their team or alumni sign on every single day. Keep it up boys. Get control of your scrubs and maybe people will respect you and your times.

That's a pretty insensitive thing to say at a time like this.

You mad bro? Even if they do hype themselves up, which they don't really, at least they're not bringing people down.

Not really that surprising. Good old Susan still has a rockin' bod if you ask me...
First you say "Keep it up boys." Then you say "Get control of your scrubs and maybe people will respect you." You're sending mixed signals to me. Just as Susan did before she. Well. We will leave it at that.
The actual best thing about this thread, and this forum in general, is that NO ONE CARES. Except for people like you. Once you figure out that no one cares, you'll enjoy these boards much more.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
