very, very well put

Rupp couldn't beat Lalang in a 3000 or 5000 today. He lacks the leg speed.
Obviously Rupp was a tough runner and was good, regardless of what the clowns may say on here. Still though, you have to feel for Derrick. He has been consistently very good and somehow still doesn't have a title.
Derrick = Hasay

Rupp in his senior year was beating every NCAA 1500m runner but Centro. This year he made our 1500m World Team and the people he was getting beat by there, well, to give you an idea the finisher immediately in front of him in his semi-final was a 3:29 guy.
Actually, to un-distort reality for a second- when most people where saying "no heart" about Rupp, it was prior to him having any titles. So, losing to the Joe Schmoeketer Kenyan from Eastern Kentucky in the NCAA outdoor 10K isn't the same as losing to a guy who currently HAS A FASTER INDOOR 5K PR THAN RUPP...CURRENTLY...RIGHT NOW...FATSRE THAN RUPP...LOOK, HE HAS A FASTER PR THAN RUPP INDOORS AT THIS MOMENT...THE GUY'S BEEN RUNNING FOR 2 YEARS...
Basically, Lalang is more of a freak of nature than anyone that Rupp was unable to defeat in his first 4 years of college. Those guys that beat Rupp/the guys Rupp finally beat in his final year of college weren't even on the level of Sambu or the Iona guy. Derrick beat those two handily this weekend.
Derrick does have some eligibility left, so it'll be interesting to see how next year pans out.
UPDATE:This.
Chelanga > Lawi. Rupp senior year > Derrick senior year (or any year so far you'd compare to a corresponding Rupp year).
HAHAHAHAHA! You're saying that if Chelanga and Lawi were on the same track, over any distance (but especially 5K or below) right now, you believe Chelanga would win? Are you f'n mad?
Let me correct your mistakes:
Lawi > Rupp (current indoor PRs at 5K...unlike Rupp, Lawi finished 1 sec behind Lagat this indoor season...oh, and Lawi has 3 more years left)
Lawi > Chelanga (see above...Chelanga had no speed, had trouble winning track races at all, lost to the Iona guy last year, then got like 8th in the 3K...c'mon, why am I even responding to this garbage?)
Rupp had a great senior year, yes. All other years are debatable.
Wait, Rupp's "senior year" was actually his 5th year though, right? So I guess we can't even compare yet.

The whole Rupp hating thing is so tired. If you want to post about Derrick, great, he's on the way up, he's gonna continue to improve. But what is the point of dumping on Rupp while we talk about Derrick? Last I looked, Rupp has improved a lot over 2 miles and 10,000 meters in recent months.

You have to be an idiot to compare current indoor prs. How many fast 5k's has Rupp attempted indoors this year? You could as easily say Rupp>Lawi current indoor prs at 3k/2m.

The fact that the Brojos, yet again, are feeding this type of $hit by making it the second link on their "On the Boards" section is, well, not surprising. They are both great runners. To say an Olympian, 8:09 two-miler (sick, solo, negative split, indoor AR) and 26:48 guy has no heart is comical. Derrick is great, but I doubt he ever runs 26:48. We'll see.
If you guys want to hate on anyone, hate on Salazar, as he's the puppeteer. Nonetheless, he's done a great job bringing Galen along. You might as well say Ritz has no heart.
Both are outstanding runners of course. Rupp 6 titles, Derrick 0 speaks for itself, with no excuses or embellishments.
I didn't care for how Rupp sat and kicked his Sr year, and that method left him way behind for international competitions. However, did win the races.
Derrick, though tough and an outstanding runner as well, is not racing nearly as well. Waiting till the last couple of minutes to try and outkick a guy who has much greater 1500m speed is poor judgement, but that's what he did in both races this weekend. Dumb running IMO, not guts. But maybe he was aiming for 2nd in both races, which he did accomplish.
Yeah, he really seemed content with second. You could see it in his face, especially after the 3k.
Derick= coward clown

I seem to remember Rupp taking the 3000m race at NCAAs at fast and breaking the entire field in like two laps, etc. He won every almost every one of his titles in a different way, I think he was purposefully experimenting with winning with different tactics. The people who said he only won because of kicking fixate on the XC title, where Chelange who always took races out fast and would always try to lead from start to finish pretty much forced Rupp to race with a wait and kick tactic anyway.
