Fading, does not bode well for January.
Congrats to Brian Ball - 1:04:49 and Julia Stamps Mallon - 1:17. Great runs.
A paid workout.
So why would some dipstick moderator remove the link to the race results? Y'all are lame.

Are you kidding? It's October 2nd. She is gearing up for a marathon in January. Of course she's going to say that she's been "gearing up" for this race- she's a professional, and she's not going to publicly discount the importance of this race. Trust me- this race means absolutely nothing with regard to January. She is undoubtedly still doing a large amount of base/volume right now.
Why does Meb not have a contract with Nike? 62 minutes is very solid, I believe.

Stamps just ran a 1/2 at quad cities winning it with course record last sunday. She ran a 2 40 something marathon 2 weeks before that. Is that good planning?
A spectator reporting said she looked 'cut' and finished with a killer of a 300 meter or so kick.

And she faded the whole way to a mediocre to poor time, that is not a good way to race no matter where she is in her training.

Or maybe she knew halfway through she could win by 2-3 minutes without going all out so she could recover faster from this tune-up race and continue training uninterrupted.
Faded? Looks like the 2nd half was faster than the 1st, to me.
Look again, Pete:
start -> 5 km = 16:49
5 km -> 10 km: 17:00
10 mile -> finish =~5 km = 17:33
what she said

Go out to 10km at 2;21 pace then keep the win secure seems a good game plan designed to make a workout into a payday.
Hilarious. If Kara Goucher had done this she would have been torn apart.

Um, torn apart by whom? The morons at LRC? Yeah, good call.
Short memory at LRC- let's recall the recent example of Ryan Hall who "raced" like garbage in the build up to his solid effort at Boston. There are some people who race well leading up to marathons, but the vast majority do not- it's all about periodization for 26.2. I'm not going to sit here and tell you Deena is going to dominate the Trials, but my point is that this race indicates very little about her preparation for a peak marathon in January.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
