I recently witnessed an aquaintance attempt to eat the entire Dollar-Menu at McDonalds in under 10 minutes. He did it, but it looked painful towards the end. How do you think you would do?

1 Double Cheesburger
1 McChicken Sandwich
1 French Fries (~ size medium)
1 Medium Soft Drink
1 Snack size Fruit and Yogurt Parfait
1 Hot Fudge Sundae
2 Hot Apple Pies
1 Side Salad (w/ dressing)

I will be running 22 miles Saturday morning and make an attempt to do it in 9 minutes (1 min/item).

A lot of people probably say they can do it, but it's deceivingly hard I bet. If you break it down, you can see why. Obviously you use the drink as an aid to help you wash things down, so it's not really an item. The side salad shouldn't take much space, but it probably is a time killer. So you are really looking at 7 items. I would allow 3 minutes for the 2 sandwhiches. 45 seconds for the fries. The parfait and sundae are both not very big as I recall, and should go down easy. Maybe a 1:15 for the 2. The 2 apple pies are probably the toughest after the sandwhiches, I would give 2 minutes the 2. I think you have to give a minute for the salad, maybe less if you use your hands. That leaves you with a minute to take drinks and a few beathers. Have fun.

Due to the cold-factor, I would think the sundae and parfat would be the most time consuming.

You're looking at anywhere between 2600 - 2700 calories depending on what type of dressing you get on your salad. I'll tell you what...that's a hell of a lot less than I figured it would be. Healthy this is not, but if you run enough miles, you could burn this off in a couple of days.

I think the temp. of the food is a major time restraint. I know I've had McDonald's apple pies before that took longer than 10 minutes just to be cool enough to eat. Although I guess if you eat those first you won't have all that extra skin in your throat to get in the way. Happy Eating Suckers, McDonalds probably has stock in Lipitor too.

I would think the ice cream would be the best thing to eat last because it would go down easier.

I foresee the side salad being the major obstacle.

I did a trial run the other day: 2 double cheese burgers, fries, medium drink, while driving = 6 minutes. Definetely have some work to do.

The real question, though, is who would win in a Dollar-Menu face-off, Ritz or Webb. I bet Ritz is like that Asian dude that wins all the hot dog eating contests.

I agree.

Besides, there's always room for ice cream. Or is it Jello? Either way, they're both a hell of a lot easier to down AFTER eating a double cheeseburger rather than the other way around.

I'm absolutely certain I could do that an hour or so after a good long run.

No question in my mind.

But would I want to do it? Can't say I would.

Webb hands down would win this one. Remember how he munched on Krispy Kreams once the season was over in high school. The kid must love junk food. Plus, he has more fast twitch muscles to use.

What if you ate the sundaes and the pies together to let the hot and cold counteract each other and avoid both brain freeze and a burnt tongue?

Excellent thinking. Don't know how much it will help, but I will dedicate one of those apple pies to you my friend.

I do not think it is a McDonalds Corp sanctioned event. All records are subject to certification by the IFOCE (International Federation of Competetive Eating).

I'm not making this shit up - there actually is an International Federation of Competetive Eating. I've lost faith in humanity.

Also from the website:

"History

Competitive eating is among the most diverse, dynamic and demanding sports in history. It dates back to the earliest days of mankind and stands alongside original athletic pursuits such as running, jumping and throwing."

The end of my understanding is at hand. I lost most understanding when synchronized swimming was put in the Olympics, I ignored those dancy things the eastern europeans do with the ribbon on the stick and I have rationalized why golf is a sport, but speed eating???

And it is one of the most DEMANDING sports alongside running???!

I just give up.
