Week 291
*************************
Happy New Year, 50+ers! The year-end sum reads 1320 miles logged. That's a far cry from where I was 5 years ago when I was logging about double that. With some focus, here's to hoping for better days ahead. As for this week skipped Christmas Day, so only 24.6 miles to end the year; logbook reads as such:
Sun: Skipped
Mon: 4.1 easyish (7:36 pace)
Tues: 4.0 w/6xhill loops (7:34 pace, 400 ft elev gain)
Wed: off
Thur: 6.4 easy (7:53)
Fri: 6.0 easy (7:48)
Sat: 4.1 moderate-to-hard (7:09 avg pace)
Finally weighed myself after Christmas, not good, sitting at 174 lbs. So there is my first New Year's resolution, get back down to 160 lbs (I think that 153-155 would be my optimal race weight.) It's no wonder these hill repeats are kicking my butt. Happy that my hip didn't tighten up on Thursday's or Friday's easy runs; staying away from the desk has been good. I was going to run further Saturday, but when I saw that freezing rain and sleet were headed our way, I headed out the door to run hard and get at least 4 in before it hit....got within 2 blocks of the house before I started getting pelted. Most of the run was moderate pace (7:2x), but mile-2 was run hard (6:26).
OK, That's it for me. Glad to see 2016 go; hope all my niggles will get themselves worked out. Here's to a better 2017, y'all! Keep it up, but keep it real!
All the Best!
