Well? And, if you do it with a credit card, do they still get all of it?

Unless they forget something(automatic loss of tip), or it's super late, I treat it like a restaurant - 20%, minus half the delivery fee. If the weather is particularly bad I may kick in an extra buck or two.
I delivered pizza off and on for many years. It's been about 7 years since I've been in the business though.
I would say my average tip back in the day was about $2'ish. I've spoke to some other pizza delivery people recently and they seem to say that people tip better now than they did 10 years ago. If it's just a normal sized order (a pizza or two) I would say give them $2 or $3 bucks and you'll be good. Give them $4 or $5 and they'll be pretty stoked. Stiff them and expect to have your house burned down!!

Why does it matter how much you spent? Is it harder for them to bring two supreme pizzas to your door than it is to carry two medium one-topping pizzas? Give them two or three bucks no matter what the pizza cost. Or, better yet, get off your lazy ass and go pick up the pizza yourself.
and yes.....they'll get all of it if you tip them on the credit card.
However, the driver does not get the delivery fee. Most drivers get minimum wage (or less) and something around a $1 per delivery that is supposed to cover gas.
As a rule of thumb, a fair tip starts at about the price of gas, adding in some extra for a large order, bad weather, or a far distance from the store.
I have delivered pizzas part-time for over 6 years. This is my website:
I tip nothing. By me ordering a pizza, the delivery guy gets a job at 7 bucks an hour now or whatever it is. Pretty good pay to drive around listening to tunes and yacking on your cell.
Like I told one slob who stood there with his hand out, "Look, you wouldn't have a job if I didn't order, so stop your begging."
Damn people these days are always wanting people to give them more than they deserve.
Anyone know why Papa Johns charges a delivery fee? They say it is not given to the delivery person. What is it for?

You're obviously a trust funder or have never had a job where you would never consider working at the place if it wasn't for tips. That, or you're a troll.
You don't have to tip Dominoes
The standard procedure in the United States is to tip 100% the cost of the purchase, plus gas money, $3 in spring and fall, $4.50 in summer and winter. Its slightly different in other nations
Drunk white Males give the best tips. Women with kids never give tips. Older Women usually give good one's. Alcoholic's or Chain Smokers hold out on tips. Overall it depends on what the amount is and how close it rounds up to something. The best amount is always gonna be 32.50. Expect 7.50 for a tip if you get that.
I tip the drivers $5. If it's a holiday, I'll double it. In my area, it's not the typical pimply faced teen showing up with my pizza to earn his beer money. It's adults driving older cars that are obviously working an extra night time job trying to make ends meet. They are worthy people.

Um, he makes min wage. He is not relying on tips. A waitress, who makes much than min wage BECAUSE she gets tips, relies on tips.
A pizza delivery guy makes min wage regardless. Like I said, that is pretty good money for doing a job that any 16 year old can do.
By the way, I have worked since I was 14. I slept in my beater car for a while and showered at a motel where my friend worked. Some nights, I got lucky and got to sleep in an unused bed (double beds) when the other one was used for a quickie and the couple checked out. I have offers to buy the rights to my story for a book about my life. I have no sympathy for min wage people expecting tips for doing a simple job.

So you're hoping for a non-alcoholic white male that's drunk out of his mind at 6:00 in the evening when the pizza arrives?
'I have offers to buy the rights to my story for a book about my life'
I'll beat that offer: $2 including film rights
Meant that a waitress makes much less than min wage because of tips.
I got tipped about 3 bucks.
Blacks almost never tipped. Jewish/religious types (when I delivered to churches or to jews) tipped less than average. The few times women ordered they tipped about average but they were mostly soccer mom's and the like.
The people who tipped the most were cheerful slightly shorter slightly fat white men in middle age or slightly past it.
The usual tip for a middle aged white male was 5 bucks.
Usually if I got to deliver to 3 or 4 white men in a night, it made up for everything else.
btw I'm mexican.
I think it mainly depends on how old they are! Teens/ college students are crap tippers as a general rule, but slowly the older they get the more they tip I think.
Since these outfits started adding their own little "delivery charge", I quit tipping. That charge is bullshit.
