i don't think so. he's clean.
I wouldn't get that far ahead of ourselves. I don't think Kaki's quite at the level he was in the beginning of the year. The times were slow, and although the field was good (on paper) it's not like he smoked Symmonds who I like, but is a 50-50 shot at the final on a given year. Seemed like there were a whole lot of off-races in there.

symmonds ran fantastic, and they did smoke him! what were you watching? symmonds only put himself up that high because of wheatings initiative.
Yeah, on second glance at the result Symmonds lost quite a bit on Wheating in the last 50 meters. Still, I think we can't overrate Kaki right now. I don't think he's a 1:42 guy at the moment. 1:43 yes, and I think Wheating should have a 1:43 soon, too. I think he's more of a medal thread in the 15, though.
with no WC this year, runners are relaxing at home like Bolt has elected to do. next year it won't be that easy.
To whom are you referring? All the Wheating haters on here went on and on about how Kaki and co. would always be in a different race and Wheating/Symmonds would be racing for something like 5th towards the back. Now that Wheating nearly nipped the second best guy in the world (and is racing more aggressively) and took second in a Diamond League race, people contend that the fields are lacking.
Time and time again Wheating proves himself and people don't respond positively. Unbelievable.
"I don't think Kaki's quite at the level he was in the beginning of the year."
likely true, and wheating likely was at his peak in monaco after his collegiate season. other than his olympic 800 heat, wheating was inexperienced and unknown internationally. he now has some great experience.
next year will be very interesting.
I think Wheating has all the tools to medal, the issue is his racing. Always in bad position and kicking. He ain't going to win the big wins against 1:41 and 1:42 guys doing that.

Of course not, it's never going to be easy. But his best event is the 800 and the 2nd best 800 meter out there just barely eluded him. Symmonds is a 1:43 man and always makes world finals for 800, Wheating seems to clearly be beyond him now. At 1500 meters, Wheating is a real threat to medal.

in a 1500 international championship final, you couldn't ask for a better tactic. you obviously didn't see the race today. bad position doesn't belong in the same sentence as wheating with todays race.
uMMMMM....EXCUSE ME???
Medal threat?? At what meet? The US championships? Maybe!!!!

correction best event ISN'T the 800.
as far as the times went today, i bet if you looked at the 800 and up for all races men and women, wheating and kakis times will stand out as the shining stars. i highly doubt anyone else is coming close to a PR today, let alone a decent one.

This ^ is really lame trolling. Come on, bring something better, more original, more believable, funnier...just plain better.
Last year was the first time Symmonds made an international final I believe. He failed in '07 and '08. I believe Wheating is a huge threat in the 15 without a doubt. The 800 has Rudisha, and I think Kaki is further from his peak performance than Wheating is. Guys like Mulaudzi and Yego have always shown up for the big meets even if they're not looking stellar now. I still like him in the 15 over the 8.
Please explain yourself. I truly don't believe that he will be a medal threat at any major championship. I think he will be the typical "good" American runner but will not be anything great. Sure that might not have been the best way to voice my opinion but that really is what I believe.
yes, i did watch the race. He came second, when he should have won....that is my point.

This ^ is not unreasonable (IMHO). Your earlier post appeared to indicate that either:
a) Those who thought Wheating has a shot at a WC or Olympic medal were ridiculously off the mark and getting WAY too caught up in recent progress/projected future progress (on the order of those who thought GF had a chance to beat Rupp a year ago at 5000),
or
b) You were simply trolling by being outrageous and disrespectful.
I do think that Wheating has a shot at a WC/OLY medal by the way, but I can easily see how some may not.

"should have one"
haha. you got me once, therefore 3/10. not bad.
i'm thinking back to when people doubted wheating would win a single event at ncaas this june.
at this point he should be running on fumes, and he's nearly winning diamond league races loaded with 1:43 guys and a 1:42 guy.
I don't know, Nick Willis took home a Silver and he's nothing truly special when you compare him with the likes of Wheating.
The Olympics are just another ballgame, with rounds, pressure, expectations, injury, I can see a scenario where Wheating is a legitimate Gold Medal threat in either event.
