Very impressive and the course surely aid in Luke breaking the sub 4 minute barrier; however, not by a huge amount. Would love to see him in a mile race on the track this year with a race won in around 3:56-3:57. Surely he could CLOSE to breaking 4 minutes later this season.
I think the same thing. It was definitely downhill, but not so significant that we shouldn't expect to see a very good mile shortly. Some of the people he beat were good college runners as well.
what are the track prs of the guys that finished around him?

He should have went to Wheeling. Instead of 80 ft drop, Wheeling is 200 ft drop. He could have run in the 3:40s.
Moses Waweru was winning almost every road race in the Minneapolis area a few years ago.

What do you consider "a huge amount?" It had to be worth at least 10 seconds. I think that is "a huge amount" in a mile...

No, Ptacek ran at least a 4:05 at Notre Dame. Its hard to say if he is in that kind of shape now though.

I'm surprised Ventolin^3 hasn't pulled out some formula proving LV is in 3'58.61 shape
Looks like the kid may have won $5,350. $350 for 2nd overall, $5,000 for the sub4. Whether it's $350 or including the bonus, his school just received a nice contribution to their scholarship fund.

Too bad he can't accept any of the money if we wants a Div 1 scholarship.
