I hate Rick Neuheisel with a passion. There's nowhere he's gone at the college level professionally and not left a wreckage in his wake (Colorado, Washington). In fact, he reminds me of Obama. Great charisma, great orator, great rapport with constituency, lawyer, consummate politican, Hollywood aura, but terrible coach. Emperor's clothes, which some people will eventually come to realize.
HOWEVER, in this case, he WILL recruit splendidly, and he's got the right staff in place to do his coaching for him. Norm Chou is the offensive genius who launched Pete Carroll's career at USC. So, unless Neuheisel commits some kind of NCAA violation, which is certainly not beyond the realm of possibility given his notoriety, UCLA will be challenging USC for Pac-10 supremacy within probably two and maybe three years. I, for one, am looking forward to that day, however much I have disdain for the coach.
