I knew he was in AR shape. I think Teg beats Ritz if they raced but he pays the price for not racing enough as this wasn't the right race.

Hey Rojo- on the Front page- Teg did NOT beat the old AR. Kennedy is still faster (12:58.2). Just thought I'd throw that out there for ya.
The alltime list doesn't look half bad anymore.
1. 12:56 Ritz
2. 12:58 Kennedy
3. 12:58 Teg
4. 12:59 Lagat
5. 13:01 Maree
It coulda been the right race, he was not far off with 400 to go.
I think the wind and the cold more than covered the difference between Ritz's record and what Teg could have run.
All in all good confidence boosters for Ritz and Teg.
And let's take a look...in most of these races, the only non Africans in the mix were....Americans.
And all Nike athletes. That says something about this country's continued interest in making a go of it in distance running.
And it says that Nike is the only company fully committed to major major major support of the sport in this country.
white power!
Let's not jump to conclusions that NIKE is the only company fully committed. Let's not forget about Brooks and the Hansons project as well as the old Fila discovery programs of old. Although Nike is far superior in money, there are companies that are trying and having a little success.
Great Run!

No it doesn't. It speaks to who Peter Stubbs and Tom Ratcliffe tend to do business with.
STFU! Taking pride in American distance running success has NOTHING to do with race.

Who gives a shit Ritz is better.
USA! USA! USA ! USA! USA!
Say what you will and bash Nike all you want. The facts are that Tegenkamp and Ritzenheim are, and have been since there 3rd and 4th place showings at world junior cross, some of the most talented runners the US has ever seen. They run for Nike. If Shumacker's group was an Asics sponsored group then Tegenkamp would still have run this fast. Ryan Hall has run some fast times in the marathon and he's not a part of Nike. It just happens that Nike gets the best of the best because they can offer them more money, not so much can be more committed.
Someone mentioned earlier the Hansons. They have nowhere near the level of talent as Nike Oregon Project and they got an Olympian in the marathon. Committment lies only within the athlete.
I'm surprised no one has suggested that Teg move up to the 10k.
Teg vs. Ritz at 5000m?
Teg vs. Ritz at 10000m?
After the race Belgium TV had post race interviews; Teg says he will slowly transition in 2010 to prepare for 10k in London.
They don't offer more money. It just happens to be who their agents do a lot of their business with. Two out every three athletes represented by Stubbs Management is with Nike. There are very few bidding wars for new professional track athletes.
you got me
Nah, he should work on his speed, PR at the mile, then have another crack at the 5 k.

Ritz has a better 5k; Teg has a better 1500, mile, and 2 mile; Ritz has a better 10k and Marathon. How many times has Ritz beat Teg head to head in the last 3-4 years???
Enough said!!!!!! Teg will have the 5k record in time (and the 10k a little later). Ritz will have the American record in the marathon in the next 3-4 years (much guttier than Mr. Hall)

You're fooling yourself. Ritz will not beat Hall in the marathon. Hall will run faster than he has already long before his career is over.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
