I'm sick of the jealous crybabies slamming Willamette Valley (Portland, Salem, Eugene) runners. Oregon has always been the Kenya of U.S. distance running. Go out and do something huge then talk your crap.

No, the runners in Oregon are all transplants, not Oregonians (except Rupp).
Don't be a crybaby because Oregon has the greatest runners in the U.S.A.
Everyone's family migrated from Europe, Asia, Africa, or are indegenous.
Whether a person is born or moved to Oregon after birth is immaterial.
Once they relocate to Oregon they are an Oregonian.
That's how it is.
And this, particulary the OP, is the type of nonsense that motivates others to bash Oregon.
The better analogy would be that Southern Califoria is the Rift Valley of sprinting.
Whiners don't expand the sport with solid performances. Oregon runners do just that. The rest of you psychos just complain and bitch all day. Do something and then talk.
Salem? Really? Hahaha, that's a good one.
No. Oregon is the Iraq.
and if you're looking for the best place on the planet to train try Acadia National Park in Maine. over 52 miles of car free groomed gravel carriage roads overlooking the ocean and thru the mountains. Not to mention over 100 miles of single track trails...maybe if all that talent in Oregon came to train in Maine we could finally beat the africans
I was with you until "Salem."
Maybe if you'd said "Bend and Ashland..." but those aren't in the Willamette Valley.

Oregon is the Qatar of U.S. Distance Running!
I saw a running camp there this weekend, but it's not the greatest place to train. I'd take almost anywhere in the rocky mountains over Acadia.

No, you have it wrong, So. California is the Rift Valley of baton droppers.
if kenya is full of homeless guys, meth cookers and addicts, then yes, oregon is kenya.
Add Corvallis instead of Salem! Awesome trails!
Most of your imported hitters came to fruition from the University of Colorado program.
what about???? wrote:No, the runners in Oregon are all transplants, not Oregonians (except Rupp).
I am SICK AND TIRED of this crap! Lissin jack, they are JUST AS OREGONIAN as all native Oregonians. In fact, I would argue that they are MORE Oregonian because they CHOSE to be Oregonian. I mean, these newly minted Oregonians moved there, learned the language, the culture, all because they just wanted to live the Oregonian Dream.
And you know what else? I have a newsflash for you: ALL Oregonians are immigrants! Heck, Oregon was BUILT by immigrants. You so-called "native" Oregonians just don't get it. I would tell you to go get a life, but you probably wouldn't get that either...
P.S. You make me sick.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
