I didn't run in high school or college (or in fact play any sports), and am 31 years old, and am a guy. But I always tried to keep myself somewhat fit. And I have only run 1 race in my adult life, and it was a marathon...
Last year I ran 3:08 in my "debut", off of just 27 miles per week. 3 days per week, I ran 7 miles outside. 3 days per week, I ran 2 miles on the treadmill. And I rested on the 7th day. No long runs, no track speedwork.
Do you think a 3:08 for a guy indicates any talent at all off of this meager training?
I don't have much of a job, or responsibility, so I could really spend a lot of time on training, if I wanted to.
I think it would be cool to run in the Olympic Marathon Trials, but 2:19 is a long way off. So it would be run in the fall of 2011, right? So the latest to qualify might be the spring of 2011?
