Nate Jenkins knew going in that his training had been suffering and he wasn't even close to peak form or his 2:14 PR. However, after dedicating years of commitment for the opportunity to respresent his country no way was he going to turn that down. On the other hand Torres got a nice vacation as well...let's give Cabada some respect for staying home and getting healthy; not screwing someone else out of a spot. There are plenty of guys in the US right now that are in <2:20 shape but instead we get two decent performances and DNS, DNF, and 2:32.
