Really? You're clearly the class of the field, let yourself get gapped by an absurd distance only to almost sprint by the entire field from lane 6 in the last 30m, but miss the team because you let the entire field gap you in the first 300m? Is it really that painful to go out in sub-61 when you can run 1:59? |

Lets hope she gets the A and puts herself on the team. Not a wise racing plan. |

That was a bit much to give away, even by her standards. The first 200 or 300 looked like a jog for her. |

It wasn't STUPID, per se. Just a miscalculation. if the leaders would have gone out in 58 or 57 (or faster), that would have been a brilliant strategy. However, since the race actually went out at an even pace, she was too far back to catch the leaders. |

They didn't, she did. I was Tactically DUMB |

A vital miscalculation. The leaders didn't and you have to be able change your race plan. The odd thing is that they actually went out faster then I thought they would with the windy back stretch. This set up her perferred race plan perfectly if she could have just hung on in 6th or 7th on the back stretch she would have been in perfect position. You cannot be a one track pony and expect to have consistent success on the national level much less the world level. Ask Nick Symmonds - he has learned his lessons and has modified accordingly. I hope she figures it out because she seems to have a load of potential. |

Yeah, no way she should have done that. I lost it when she came storming back...not because she closed so fast but because I couldn't believe she has stupid enough to let EVERYONE get that much room on her. Very stupid and bad for the US as she was clearly one of, if not that best in the field. |

She was so far back that I thought she was injured. |

Americans currently having the A: 1:59.29 Anna Willard 1:59.67 Alice Schmidt 1:59.82 Hazel Clark Today's result: 2:00.79 Hazel Clark 2:01.01 Geena Gall 2:01.12 Phoebe Wright 2:01.19 Maggie Vessey So, Clark goes, Gall goes. Wright goes IF she or Gall get the A. Vessey goes if SHE gets the A, and neither Gall nor Wright does. Did I get that right? |

I understand trying to run more even splits than the field, and trying to draft off of them. I don't understand staying that far back when the pace is already so slow. |

What is the A standard? |

A 2:00.00 B 2:01.30 Maggie Vessey's PR 2:00.18 So, Clark is in for sure. If one of Wright or Gall gets the A and Vessey gets the A, then she's in. Actually, no, that's wrong, because they both have the B. So if one of Wright or Gall gets the A, they both go. I say Vessey probably blew it. |

Don't be so sure. Could Gall and/or Wright break 2:00, especially after such long seasons? I'm not optimistic. Too bad Willard didn't run the 8 instead of the 15. |

Who is Maggie Vessey's coach? |
| yeah...... |

She is self coached. Saw her run 53.xx in a local all comers meet around 2 weeks ago around the bay area. |

Let's see - the "A" standard is 2:00.0. You aren't going to do that going out in 62.4-62.5. Doesn't matter what everyone else is doing - you need to run 2:00.0 or better. You've already run close to that, but you sit back 3 seconds off the lead of the best in the US for the first 400. Not a smart tactic. Can't sugar coat that one. |
