Any posters have either a rat terrier or mini pinscher/pomeranian mix? Any insight on ownership of these particular breeds? Any helpful tips?

I'll respond even though its five years late. I just adopted a handsome little rat terrier mix. He weighs 25 pounds and has been an excellent running buddy and roommate. He handles a broad range of weather conditions, running 50-60 miles per week with me (easy days but not workouts) in 90+ heat during the summer and 20 degrees or below in the winter. He easily keeps pace with me on 16-mile long runs averaging 6 flat, so I know he can go the distance.
Around the house he is pretty lazy after the daily run, but if I want to I can get him worked up to play-fight with me or get into a tug-of-war battle. He doesn't fetch naturally so I am working on that. He is very friendly and likes to cuddle or get a belly-rub anytime I am willing.
He has two real flaws so far. One is getting too worked up in a play-fight and using too much teeth (doesn't bother me but some guests don't like it). He has not left a mark at all but it is a bit uncomfortable. The other flaw is when I come home after being gone longer than usual he gets excited, starts shaking, and lets out a tiny bit of pee if I pet him. It is less than an ounce but still annoying.
Overall, 9/10 dog would highly recommend.
I have a mini pinscher and he's really cool.
Get a Rottweiler. Anything else is just a dog.

I thought a rottweiler was a dog.
Rottys are more like cats . They high tail it when a real dog comes around. Ask white fang.
Any male who can spell or pronounce those breeds should shack up with Aries Merritt.

Sure. Swing by my house late some night. She'll protect the den. You'll high tail.
She's undefeated.
Any dog under 35lbs is a cat.
I have a rat terrier, greatest dog ever. She is only 12 lbs and never big enough to run long distances. She is social-able and was easy to train. She has cancer on her gums and jaw and last November the vet said she wouldn't live past February. It's spreading to her nasal cavity and soon her lungs and I know that tough decision is not far away. My GF had a jack russell and that dog changed my perception of jacks. He was so calm and mild tempered and at 16 looked like he was going to live forever and then one night last spring he had a seizure and he was gone.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
