Ja! In German.
And in German its Dime-ler, not Dame-ler
Close. He originally recorded and performed using his real name, David Jones, but changed it when The Moneys became popular, to avoid confusion with Davy Jones (note the spelling).

Is it boo ee
or bow ee?
Remember the Alamo.
That's where he got Bowie from.
He originally performed under the name Davey Jones but changed it to avoid confusion with a tiny Mancunian Monkee.

No, it can be either.
"Forte," meaning "loudly," is from the Italian and accordingly is pronounced with two syllables.
"Forte," meaning "strong point," is from the French and accordingly is pronounced with one syllable.
[This ignores the fact that some authorities now consider both pronunciations standard, even for the second meaning. If enough people choose to pronounce a word with two syllables rather than one, the two-syllable rendition becomes the standard. Languages change; so do their "standard" syntaxes and vocabularies.]

George Carlin, IIRC, summed up the difference something like this:
"Helen's forte [one syllable] is the skin flute, which she plays forte [two syllables]."

That figures. They don't even know the difference between ham and bacon up there. Bunch of damn eskimos!
Doesn't bother me how anyone pronounces jewelry!!

What's remarkable is that I've heard 2 different commercials on the radio -- for JEWELRY stores! -- where the "actors" mis-pronounce the word. DOH!
And don't get me started on the widespread misuse of the reflexive pronoun "myself" -- it's as if people think that using the word "me" is a sign of ignorance!
Bowie, MD [BOO-ee]
Bowie, David [BOH-ee]
If you pronounce the word "jewel" with 2 syllables
[jew-el], it should be [jew-el-ree]; If you pronounce it as monosyllabic [jewl], it should be [jewl-ree]
Never heard that George Carlin quote; that's pretty funny. Musicians all say [for-tay], no matter what the context.
well then I guess it should also make you pissed off when people say [wens day] instead of [wed- nes- day] or [clim] instead of [climb]. Some words are just not pronounced as they are written. Other words, due to an assimilation of articulatory features change over time to make the word easier to pronounce.
"Just got done" or did you mean "just finished" Not cool at all.
Jewelry doesn't but Jaguar does. There is no "wire" in jaguar.
Jewelry doesn't piss me off but library bugs the shit out of me. A lot of people forget there are 2 r's in the word.
Li berry - sounds stupid
No, it does not..
What pisses me off is when people say "Warshington" instead of "Washington"...growing up near D.C. you would hear it ALL the time and as I got older, the conversation went something like this :
Me: "You mean Washington?"
Other Person: "That's what I said!"
Me: "No, you didn't. You said Warshington. There is no "r" in Washington"
Other Person: "Fine. Whatever"
I just walk away chuckling to myself!
It's annoying when people say "supposebly" instead of "supposedly", or "axe" instead of "ask"
