A 5 year old Cocker Spaniel
A 5 year old Cocker Spaniel
Your Mom.
Someone told me
Its all happening at the zoo.
I do believe it,
I do believe its true.
Its a light and tumble journey
From the east side to the park;
Just a fine and fancy ramble
To the zoo.
But you can take the crosstown bus
If its raining or its cold,
And the animals will love it
If you do.
Somethin tells me
Its all happening at the zoo.
The monkeys stand for honesty,
Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
Theyre dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.
Zebras are reactionaries,
Antelopes are missionaries,
Pigeons plot in secrecy,
And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! you gotta come and see
At the zoo.
Doesn't answer the question, but it's a blast from the past for my fellow older guys and gals.
Five dolphins could beat the best five water polo players in the world at water polo.

And what would be its time?
I am thinking a wolf, with a time of 1:30. The time is just a wild guess.
Only on LetsRun.
Just how did you come up with this topic?
It's interesting. I had never thought about it.
Interesting article here:

Basically the same question, but for 2000 meters instead of the marathon (they even throw El G into the mix).
They give that race to the pronghorn as well... but give props to my friend the ostrich, reporting that it "can sustain about 64kmh for up to 30 minutes."
a hippo
Why would some retarded Pronghorn beat a Camel?
MOFOS are fast
Triathletes. End of discussion.
If 10% of a hyenas weight is its heart, then provided it takes 8 litres of pure glucose, it would definately kick-arse. Hyena's have a bite force 1.7 times that of a lion and have evolved precisely for carnage (including the massive muscular shoulder muscles). Their only set back is the pathetic excuse for hind legs . Whovever said a girrafe had the potential obviously doesnt know their stuff. Sea gulls would do great and so would bluefin tuna(nearly 5 meters long & capable of charging & mantaining 65 miles in excess for a few miles). Someone mentioned blue marlin. It has an impressive hydro-dynamic figure but not much of fat reserves to keep it going. Wolves are brilliant if climatic conditions favour, but their is a great deal of contrast between the cardio-vascular strengh of one wolf to another (the range is more than that of humans), so you will have to make sure you pick an atheletic monder. Pronghorns(the primitive bridge between dear and antelope) can do upto 61.4mph in a sprint and 7.8mph less in a marathon. Remamber humans receive high energy drinks in a marathon...
Has to be a human. No other animal could possibly be trained to follow a course.
A Wildebeest has got to be in contention, they can run 50mph and are migrate constantly, so I bet they have good range.
It depends on the marathon course. On a tough trail course, humans would be up there (as others have posted about the 22 mile man vs horse race held annually).
I've read that in a multi day ultramarathon, a human would win every time.
Discover magazine actually had an article on this very subject some years ago. Their answer was: Kangaroo! I guess they can efficiently hop 20 ft. for a long time. The faster animals would burn out.
While I was reading this thread, you beat me to it. lol
Kangaroo.
Please shut up. Thank You.
A tardigrade? Is the answer a tardigrade?

Pronghorn antelope can run 53 mph and have been observed to be able to sustain 30 mph for about an hour. That's a 1-hr marathon.
no it's half that.
26.2/53<.5
60 x 26.2188 / 30 = 52.4376 minutes = 53:26
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
