I'm having some IT-band problems that are preventing me from running. I would like to get better as fast as possible. My question is, does alcohol consumption effect recovery? When I get injured, I tend to get depressed and want to drink. I worry, though, that drinking will put an extra burden on my body when I want it to be channeling all of its energies towards getting healthy again. Does anyone know anything about the physiology of this issue? I'm not so much interested in binge drinking as in 4-6 drinks in an evening to take my mind off of my disappointment and frustration, and to provide a replacement for that satisfied post-workout feeling that I'm used to.
