Hillary Clinton would be awesome.
Condie Rice is the best choice.
Steve Holman. Wharton MBA, working at a high level in finance, was involved with USATF when he was competing. . .
yeah, and has what...3 years of experience in the real world. We need an executive whose MBA is just an extra...with Holman, it's half his resume.
Mentioning Holman in the same sentence as H. Frazier and B. Schmidt does seem to be a stretch.
Any organization with self important types like Bob Fine has got to be a bear.
How about THE HOG? or THE BEDE?
Good point. But he does have an MBA. And the longest stride of any miler in history.

I dont think many of these successful business people, even if they have achieved great things in track and field, will drop their big salaries for a 200k (if that) job at usatf.
Masback is making a whole lot more at Nike right now and could have made even more going to a non athletic company.
Wasn't Masback pulling in around $400k?
The job has some perks as well (nice travel schedule; never seen Craig stay anywhere but the best located 5 star hotels in his journeys).
So a drop to $400k isn't mind-blowing. Someone like Schmidt might want to give back to the sport and take something a little less intense at this point in his career. He's also probably smart enough to have some incentives tied to the success of the USATF and the extra revenues he'll generate.
Another important thing to note about B. Schmidt is that he signed Michael Jordan to the Gatorade contract (when he wasn't Michael Jordan yet). Years late, Jordan got him a job by introducing him to Oakley. Schmidt was CEO of Oakley for a couple years.
Again, to think about someone with 10+ years as the big dog at Gatorade, CEO of Oakley, Olympic medalist, etc. would be HUGE for USATF.
The only way some of these top execs from outside the sport will want to touch USATF is if they are given powers to override some of the idiots like Stephanie Hightower, Brooks Johnson, and some of the other committee chairs (youth and masters).
All the committee chairs may be volunteers, but it's all about hanging on to their power and their power base.
