Now that Masback is stepping down from USATF, what are the chances that Mark Nenow might take his place? He's clearly an American running icon, and his stature certainly hasn't diminished in the eyes of many who have been following his latest efforts to break the Masters records. Any constructive thoughts on the possibilities that we may soon see this track and field great heading up the US efforts heading into Beijing?

USATF should hire some geek who loved running in HS or college, wasn't particularly fast, but knocked it out of the park in the business or marketing world.

What about Frank Shorter? He has the athletic and education credentials. His experieince as a victim of a drug cheat (1976 silver medal that should have been a gold) would bode well for cleaning up the current drug mess USA track faces.
Forget Shorter, how about Louis Zamperini? Air Force bomber pilot, prisoner of war, Olympian, collegiate mile record holder, inspirational speaker ....

Another OJT situation ? That sucks. After Masback is dumped due to doping scandals, i.e. Jones, Shay, the list goes on, we need a retired and successful media executive to take USATF to the big money.
Rudy Chapa: former athlete, lawyer, agent, business man. Has finger on pulse due to Dyestat connection plus his kid runs and is dating Ari Lambie.
Another tadpole to head USATF ? Rudy is great guy and a Nike employee. He's not a successful and retired executive with a proven record. Picking up the failed dyestat.com for a nickle and turning it into a huge Nike shoe catalog impresses the Chinese owners of Nike but who else ? I mean really. And we see track girls out with lots of guys on the farm, BFD.

When Rudy left Nike in the late 90's it was to steer his family's business. He's had a broad and diverse career many parts of which would transfer well to running something like USATF. More likely than not he wouldn't be too happy steering the ship of fools that the volunteers represent.

Steve UUU already works for the Chapa's and it seems Mr uuu has a lobby in place. Tafut from the T&F board has had his name thrown about also.
On a more practical note could Bob Hersh be convinced/cajoled/shamed into taking the job?
Have the USAT&F folk found a Mike Conley replacement? They have to move faster on the CM position.
I really leaning to a guy from the media end of sports that is a strong businessman/CEO type regardless of his running credits( I've seen Hanoi Janes Ex's name floated around}. It's a sports business not a sports event winning is not to the swiftest but to the one who understands the flow of the business.
It's going to be tough to fill this slot with a quality person. The USATF volunteer hierarchy is unbearable.
