Do you think these shoes would hold up well in the half?
Do you think these shoes would hold up well in the half?
No. I have had a pair. You get what you pay for with the Mayfly. A very cheaply made shoe that isn't very flexible and won't last for more than a couple of races. Nike Katana Racer, Mizuno Universe, and Adizero Pro are all better flats.
I tend to disagree.
I wore the Mayfly for a marathon, half marathon, and a ten mile race. They held up well and were super light and helped me run fast.
I like them too. I've used them in 10K's. I see no reason why they wouldn't last in a half marathon or marathon for that matter. I may try them for training. If the seams don't give, and I don't see why they would, I'll keep wearing them as long as I can, 60 miles or 600 miles.

what elites wear the mayfly?
The mayfly are extremely flexible. There is nothing in the shoe to be inflexible. As for overall cost, it's probably the best cost/benefit ratio of any flat that is currently put out by one of the major companies these days.
I ran an old pr in the mayfly in the half several years ago, and thought they were great. No signs of ripping.
They are fine and good up to around 100 miles. Very light and ok for up to half marathon racing.

LONG LIVE THE MAYFLY
Totally agree
I've tried to look up this shoe on the Nike website and all I find is some "lifestyle" shoe called the "Nike Mayfly Woven".
Is it a discontinued shoe? Or only available in some places?
yes discontinued. they were around during the early-mid 2000s. the ones on the site now are not the same. I believe they did release the original design again for a limited time around 2016, but have largely been supplanted by the zoom streak and vaporfly lines in terms of lightweight/racers

Discontinued :( I think around 2012 or so, had a good near 10 year run. Best shoe Nike has ever made.
Your half marathon is now a 3k. We gotta keep things exciting!
I imagine you'll be fine to run it in the mayflys.
