Other than the Idaho sportswriters who were impressed that Zabransky could throw a potato 80 yards and the Smurfs who liked their field, I don't think anyone else thought the Broncs were national champs.

That being said, the 2007 Fiesta Bowl was one of the best bowl games ever.

The BCS title game is for the national championship. The only other way is to to finish #1 on the final AP poll (USC in 2003).

On that note, college football needs a playoff.

BSU in a BCS conference would have no less than 3 losses per year. It'd be like a 10th place DI xc team going to DIII nats. They look really good because they are running against inferior competition. Maybe Calvin gives them a run, but that's the only team capable of even coming remotely close.

The National Championship is selected throught he BCS bowls...and since Boise St did not win the BCS championship they were not the national champion. If you play scrubs and go 100-0 that does not mean you are the national champion. Play better teams or move to a better conference. Louisville did.

It's tough to go undefeaeted again. USC was #2. BSU should have played USC on a Saturday in January 2007 to decide for all time who is #1. There was no other teams last year who came close to BSU and USC.

Not there. According to the ACCEPTED PLAYING RULES the team that wins the BCS National Championship game is the NCAA 1A Football National Champion. Show me ANY computer or human poll than shows them #1. If they wanted to be considered for #1 they should have played better teams. Louisville was NEVER considered for a BCS bowl UNTIL they went to the BEAST. Going 10-0 in the C-USA or the old Metro doesn't mean anything...thought it might get ya the Liberty Bowl.

lightning will strike the same spot twice before that happens, but I was happy to see that great year and bowl game they had. I've been there to Boise and seen that blue field.

What are you talking about? USC finished #4 with 2 losses (and that was *after* beating Michigan in their bowl game).

Don't you remember an over-achieving team from Gainesville beating an over-rated team from Columbus this past January?

Just because they're undefeated does not mean they're #1. How many teams could have gone undefeated with that schedule? I can think of about 20. I'm not exaggerating.
