The Olympic action got started this morning and it was full of drama as the US, Kenyan and Ethiopian champs in the men's steeple all failed to make the final. Emma Coburn, Stephanie Garcia and Colleen Quigley all advanced to Wednesday's final in the Bird's Nest after some quick qualifying heats. Coburn and Garcia both made it automatically, finishing third in their heats, while Quigley's 9:29 in heat 2 was enough to grab a time qualifier. Coburn will attempt to make some more history on Wednesday as she goes for the U.S.'s first-ever medal in the event.
