It’s fair to say that Uceny never won a medal at a global championship but it’s not fair to call her a quitter simply because she didn’t finish the 2012 Olympics. Uceny was a fighter.

The three-time US champ and #1 ranked 1500m runner in the world in 2011 will sadly be remembered more for what could have been than what was. Merber ran 3:58.14 to beat out Colby Alexander by .01 as Drew Hunter was 8th, just ahead of Leo Manzano. Mackey ran 4:29.73 to win over Morgan Uceny. *Results

With the Olympics just over two weeks away, several top Americans will get one final tuneup before Rio in the final meet at Hayward Field before it begins renovations. Overall, 23 Brazil-bound athletes will be in action, with Will Claye, Brittney Reese and Erik Kynard all taking part.

The last DL meet before the Olympics is a 2-day affair. We break down both days (Bolt day #1), (Farah day #2) for you free of charge. The meet features a lot of US 4th placers including Ludlow, Eccleston, Kipp, Manzano, Jenkins and 5th placers (Sowinski, Uceny, Garcia) trying to get over their Trials disappointments.

Rowbury and Martinez are the favorites for the spots on Team USA, but there are plenty of familiar names in this one including Katie Mackey, Heather Kampf, Treniere Moser, Morgan Uceny, Alexa Efraimson and the rapidly-improving Amanda Eccleston.

Olympic silver medalist Gebremeskel dropped a world leading 7:38 in the 3K, while Seyaum ran 4:00 in the 1500. Sheila Reid won a competitive mile in 4:27.
