Donavan Brazier is BACK, winning his first U.S. title since 2019 in a personal-best 1:42.16. But the story of the race was 16-year-old Cooper Lutkenhaus, who stunned the track world by running 1:42.27 to finish second and obliterate the U18 world record.

Coach Smith says Brazier has been looking good in practice and had no setbacks.

For the first time in more than three years, Donavan Brazier, who missed all of 2023 and 2024, will race on the Diamond League circuit. And if he runs well, it will be the first time since August 2019 that the former world champ breaks 1:50 in an official Diamond League 800.

Our Jonathan Gault has the inside scoop on the status of the 2019 world champ thanks to a source in Brazier's camp. Brazier does not have a new coach yet and is currently working back on getting back to full training after yet another surgery. *Jordan Hasay & Donavan Brazier have left the Union Athletic Club.

After bumping into him at the NYC Grand Prix this weekend, Brazier told LetsRun.com that racing this season was not looking good coach Pete Julian has confirmed it, texting, "racing is unlikely this summer as Donavan won't race until he's back to 100% health."
