All the hell Hoey catches — never mind the insinuations fired at a 16 year old kid from Texas, and no one has the honesty to note that Brazier’s comeback, supposedly on “…five months training,” might just be a little bit sus, just a little bit… or a lot according to others. Why does Brazier get a pass, hmmm?

Anyone who watched Brazier run when he was younger wouldn’t doubt him. He negative split a 1:47 in high school and ran a 1:48 with 56-52 splits off like 30 miles a week.
Then he lowered his mileage and ran 1:43 to win NCAAs as a freshman. The runs 1:42 to win worlds a couple years later, all before bicarb and super shoes. Never having run more than 7 miles in a row in his life.
He never needed a lot of training. If he could run, he would run fast. He may not be quite as talented as Lutkenhaus, however, he’s easily the second most talented 800m guy in the world and could’ve run low 1:41 if healthy in his physical prime.

What are you implying? Brazier gets the pass cause he’s been there before. Not saying Hoey or the kid are dirty, but it’s way more feasible to get back to 1:42 shape than it is to go from 1:47 to 1:42

I'm confused about one aspect of the Supporter's Club as the marketing material says I can become a VIP member of the Supporter's Club. Does that mean there are different Supporter's Club levels as there's a regular level and then there's a VIP level? What does the VIP level offer that the regular level does not as I'm curious?

Everyone plays by the same rules. Wanyonyi, Sedjati, Hoey, etc. It's a level playing field.

Outstanding article Jonathan. I'm rooting for my favorite runner Cooper Lutkenhaus in 2026 but I'm also very happy for Donavan.

It's the same thing (SC = VIP), albeit not very clear. Unfortunately being a SC member no longer removes ads from the message board pages. That benefit seems to have been removed recently.
Anyway, excited to see what Brazier does this year and beyond. Great article about a special runner. He's a bit tough to follow since he rarely posts on social media. I was hoping he would get back to it once he started having success again.

Sure. Wanyonyi is trained by a coach who so far has six athletes under suspension for PEDs. Bit of a red flag. Coach Berardelli should be suspended. One can see an athlete here or there under any coach. But six?
People fall all over each other defensing Brazier. Is it the obvious problems he was having upstairs or is it race - can’t scrutinize or hold a black person accountable? Really? It’s like an old South Park episode. The guy made a good point. You don’t sit on a couch for three years and then with five months training as claimed by by Brazier and crew, start your best series of races ever. “Not likely” is a nice way of putting it.
Brazier’s earlier feats don’t need exaggeration either. He even split his very impressive 1:47 HS best, he didn’t negative split the race as one poster claimed. Then the guy says he “might not” be as talented as Lutkenhaus. Let’s wait a few years to see what Lutkenhaus does, but so far Brazier in HS demonstrated nowhere near the level of ability Lutkenhaus has so far.
It’s OK to be skeptical of Brazier’s 2025 trajectory. Just as it’s OK to note the incredible hypocrisy of someone like, say, Gabby Thomas.

Them and Donny are all sauced up when on top form, for sure.

confused. So there is the Supporter's Club and then there is the VIP club as how do you get into the VIP club AFTER joining the Supporter's Club? More money? Good connections. Then what benefitst does that VIP club has as if it doesnt has benefits I wood stay in supporters club

You literally have no idea what you’re talking about.

I wonder if the 800 is an "easier" event to come back from in a shorter amount of time than say the 5000. Anyone have experience with this?

In before someone screams “racism”.
+1
Plus, Brazier's first 1:42 and world gold came after joining NOP led by doper Salazar.
Jonathan Gault - This is a great piece. Thanks for putting the story together so well.
During Brazier's 2025 comeback, I couldn't stop thinking of the 2015 thread that introduced us all to Donavan. One of the craziest claims someone could make at the time. As amazing as Fisher's career has been so far, and despite different disciplines, I'd argue it's still true:
So I came back from a run this afternoon and looked at my phone. There was a text from a top HS coach which said, "Grant Fischer is not the best kid in Michigan." I wrote back facetiously, "Yeah you're right. He probably coul...
