In our story on the front page about Solinsky's 26:59, I'm sure many will surprised to learn that flotrack did not broadcast the race live. Stanford broadcast it live and apparently the announcers didn't know much. I'd love to see a copy of that broadcst. Does anyone have a copy?
Does anyone have a contact at Stanford?

Does anyone have access to a recording of the live broadcast by Stanford of Chris Solinksy's 26:59?

Well, I watched it live on Flotrack. Do you mean Stanford announced it but gave the rights to Flotrack to broadcast it?
-
yeah im pretty sure i watched it live (and free, those were the days) on flotrack, late at night ET.

The link posted is free and has the Stanford announcers, and drums beating .....
-
... and is the entire race ... no commercials :-)
-
except for the final 100 wtf hahaha
-
The link does not have any video/volume controls. How did you jump to the end?

I had the same question not long ago.

I distinctly remember it being live on Flotrack. Full meet was.
And unless LRC and Flotrack are as mortal enemies as Salazar and Schumacher per the email cited by Gault (great story BTW) it would be good to get Fenton’s comments on the race and have him recall if f full meet was live (and who the other announcers were that night). -

We apologize PROFUSELY for the battery dying at 100 meters to go! Trust us, Chris won.
Okay, but there has to be a recording that captures the full thing somewhere, since the flotrack version exists. -

FYI, I talked to Ryan for the story, just didn't end up quoting him since it was already over 6000 words. Ryan said that they did not broadcast the race live.
Now it could be possible that FloTrack streamed the video provided by Stanford with Stanford's announcers. But Fenton said that the FloTrack broadcast (the one he commentated on) was not broadcast live -- they recorded it and then uploaded it immediately after the race. -
I recall watching the race live on the Stanford website. The announcers didn't know much at all. I knew what the pace was and that it was on AR pace, but don't recall if I got that from the clock or if the announcers were reporting that.
For those that think they saw it live on Flotrack, I do believe they got their version online shortly after the race. I recall Ryan Fenton interviewing Solinsky after his cooldown and Fenton mentioning it was already available.
