I'm a long time Brooks runner and I use 4-5 different shoes from NB1400v6, Reebok forever, UnderArmour Fortis, Nike ZoomFlySP(way underrated) Pegasus 36.
I came into Pegasus as my go to from the Ghost because the 12mm drop just felt so exagerrated that I was getting tendon flare-ups. I do like the Pegasus as it feels like a medium of everything. I enjoy doing fartleks, repeats on groomed trail, golf courses and I wouldn't attempt something like that in a VF/or ZF as it's too stiff and the plate can't really engage with the softer ground.
With Pegasus I can see the intention with the lower flared away heel collar as it really just lets your tendon move and function. I would put the heel design of the new Hyperion Tempo in that function as well. I know you said swoosh however this Brooks HT is worth a try on. It has about the same stack as Pegasus but is over 2oz lighter/good traction and has a good medium firm midsole that has great recoil. If you thought the Turbo was too mushy this may be worth considering.
