I'm looking to change up my running shoe lineup partially. The reason i ask for only nikes is bdcause i've tried all the known brands (literally) and i've always gotten bad results 90% of the time it's achilles irritation and bleeding. Nike always worked with me except the turbo 2's which irritated my big toe and the vomero's didn't work for me they were very cushioned. I'm a marathoner. Anyway, here's my lineup:
Easy runs - Pegasus 36
400-1600 track intervals - Zoom Fly 3
Long runs - Pegasus trail/trail goretex
Race day shoe/MP runs - Next%
I was thinking to replace the everyday 36 with the 37 when it comes out soon.
The zoom fly's were good kinda but i think i can do better. I wanted to mimic the next% feeling but not overuse the shoe before race day. I was thinkibg of replacing it with the streak or streak LT haven't tried either so i'm looking for opinions on that.
For the long run i wanted to find a long lasting nike shoe but not to overuse my pegasus which i'm already using on non-workout days. The vomero's slowed me down too much and i didn't like the super cushiony feeling. The trail goretex is good but i'm open to suggestions
I don't think anything would replace the next% for me on race day.
New training shoe suggestions? (Nike only)

Try epic react 2 while they are still there. Very versatile and comfortable.

The new inbound Pegasus Trail 37 looks amazing.
I have the 36 GoreTex Trail and love it, put two 21km runs in them back to back. very comfy! -
Check out the React Infinity Run. Great shoe.
-
Turbo 2 is long lasting and easy to get at reasonable prices now.
-
Where have you seen that?
-
Infinity Reacts, an insanely comfortable, responsive and well priced every day trainer.
-
I'll throw a vote in for Nike Turbo 2. Very light, bouncy, same foam as VF. Looks like you can find them online for around $100 bucks.
I have heard really great things about Infinity React as a daily trainer but haven't tried it yet myself. -
Infinity is too soft for me and the upper is awful. Insane amount of heel slippage and no lock down feel through the lacing
-
Definitely would agree with moving to the Streak or Streak LT from the Zoom Fly 3. I used to run in the Zoom Fly Flyknit for track sessions and intervals. Since I switched to the Streak 7, I won't go back. The lighter weight is really noticable, I feel like I can accelerate quicker, there's better traction — it's just an all-round better shoe for the types of workouts you want to use it for. If it's just 400-1600m then Streak LT could be a bit less cushioned, lighter weight option.

How is your foot or heel shaped? Sounds like more of a too-small (short) shoe problem. How are the Nike heel cups different? -

I think its the shoe material at the heel. Cuz no matter what other brand i wear my heel gets massacred in the back and the only difference between the other brands is how long it takes before my heel gets irritated. Its not a size issue because for most of those shoes i tried them out at the store before buying them, ran in them a bit before buying but somehow this always starts at least 3 days after buying the shoe. I'm not gonna try and investigate further honestly. My normal walking around shoes are other brands and i'm fine with them. Nike is a successful shoe company that i doubt will go out of business any time soon so i think its ok to put all my eggs in their basket for the next few decades of running. -
To the people who keep recommending the turbos, the upper really tightens on my big toe and really irritates it to the point that it's impossible to run in them without pain. Could it be a size issue? I doubt it because all my nike shoes are the same size. Did you guys go up a size for the turbo? It's really odd because as far as everything else about the shoe before the toe suffocation issue was great.

That's what I was getting at with the too-short/small size and other brands. No one else gets bloodied by every other brand. I think that's likely from the back of your foot being too tight to the back of the heel cup because your shoes are too small. Its sounds to me that what you consider your size is what other people would think of as too tight. -

Serious Post
Easy runs - Pegs, Vomero, Structure 22s or or for longer ez runs Zoom Fly 3. All can be daily drivers IMO
Track and Speed Sessions - Turbo 2s and Streak 7 or LT
Long Runs - Zoom Fly 3. When I say long I'm meaning 2.5hrs
Just shooting the breeze and jogging - Epic React, Infinity Run (These have heel slippage so watch out)
Trial - Peg Trail
Race and Specific Training - Next% -

Interesting that you are using the zoom flys for longer runs i thought they were meant to be closer to the next% in terms of usage or as a speed shoe. I guess that kind of explains why it's changing my fast running form and making me somewhat slower. -
You thought the current Vomero was too cushioned? It's got the least amount of cushion out of the shoes that it usually competes against. Sounds like the Tempo Next% is gonna be good for you when it comes out. Also the new vomero is going to have ZoomX in the heel.
-
Ya there was just too much padding i felt like my legs were on a pillow and while i do like comfort i wanna still be able to pick my feet of the ground and keep a decent pace. Would rather run in the pegasus rather than the current vomeros. I'll give the new ones a shot when they come out and i was definitely planning on getting the tempo's in the fall though who knows when that will be pushed back to.
-
The durability on the Vomeros is far superior to the Pegasus 36 it's it's just for easy running I wouldn't really put any stock in trying to keep a decent pace as it's unnecessary to your training. Pegasus 37 should suit you really well and I'm actually hopeful that it'll be a great trainer.

For you the options I see:
Easy Runs: Peg 36/37, Infinity React (slightly wider fit, hence some people having heel slipping)
Track Intervals: Zoom Fly (will give you the closest feel to the Next% without being the Next%), Streak 7 (more of a traditional speed shoe, will work but not feel like the Next%), Next% (hear me out, these shoes are way more durable than people give them credit for, especially on a track where the surface is cushioning you as well. Maybe not ideal if youre ripping 400s, but for longer reps they are amazing). In short, if you're trying to rip on the track the Streak is great, otherwise Next%/Zoom Fly are better options.
Long Runs: Peg 36/37, Infinity (if it fits), Peg Trail works great as well. Why change it up here.
Race: Next%
