Do people not even hear themselves? Kids skip school, kids flunk out of school, kids get pregnant, kids get in fights, kids steal cars, kids rob stores, kids shoot people. Jesse Jackson shows up with a mob when those kids get trouble. People scream that the kids are just kids. Now the kids are doing something healthy and the Nazis are out to take them to the gas chamber.

No, they aren't. You don't know much about the Holocaust, do you?
This is only relevant if we know the state. Indiana?
My replies and inquires are above in bold.
I have studied it extensively because I had dozens of family members who were murdered there. The Nazis started a systematic brainwashing of the entire population by essentially convincing people that Jews were bad through propaganda and laws. In one month's time, we established laws that required people to stay inside. We fined and arrested people who do not comply. The media bombards people 24x7 that anyone who is not complying is bad. This very thread is scary in that a group of high school boys are being called out as bad for what should be positive behavior. The Government and the media have convinced everyone that the enemy is the population who are violating the shelter in place orders. Those people are quickly being viewed as the enemy.
OP, was this in jasper indiana by chance cause i saw what looked like about 8 guys the same you described and i was about to do the same thing haha
1) Because one of them has the virsus. Breathes out droplets and the person 1s behind them breathes them in. This is basic virsus transmission. The part that is sort is unclear is what the chances are
2) If they didn't want to get thier friends and family sick they wouldn't be long runs with groups. As dedicated runners they would have zero problems going out and getting the run done by themselves
3) You don't see the difference between playing a video game at your house when your friend is at his house and meeting in person? I would think that would be pretty obvious. And zero people are suggesting that getting together in person or hanging out at walmart is acceptable.
4) Of course not. And that is how lots of people get infected. In you life how often have you been sick and then someone else in your house gets sick 2 days later. Were you an assH*le who infect them intentionally or did it just happen
5) Because transmitting most virsus's and bacterialis incredibly easy. Again how many times in your life has a person you lived with been infected by you or you infected them?
So you are now saying that you are smarter than the health experts and the Governor in their state. If you are telling these kids not follow their state's directive and guidance, whatvarevthey supposed to do? By the way, do you ever drive over 55? The speed limits are there for safety. I will bet that you disobey some laws but these kids are most likely following theirs and you are still upset. Sort of like you telling to drive 25 in a 55 because you think it is safer. I think large groups of kids is the best way to get herd immunity in a hurry to save the most lives.
Dude, they were virtual social distancing. Some people virtual race, some virtual social distance. There is even a virtual boy. Look it up, its very respected.

Per the title, I went on my long run today and I saw a group of about 8 guys also long running. They all looked high school age and were clustered in a tight knit pack. I live in a suburban area in a large Midwestern state. At this point, is this acceptable or just plain stupid? I feel like I should have said something but I kept my mouth shut and ran by them at a careful 6 feet distance.
Stupidity of course. But you have to blame websites like letsrun.com for it as well, since they never put good recommendations out there for young runners.
I am looking forward for that class action lawsuit
Oh right, it’s letsrun ‘s fault. You turd of a human, looking forward to the action of rolling you in glitter to make you look better. ?

How are the kids going to develop herd immunity by running together if it is a safe activity that will not transmit the virsus? Obviously you believe the kids will infect each other and want to encourage that behavior. Odds are that 99.9% of them will be fine. And they will only kill off like 3% of their parents.
It depends.
Not acceptable in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Michigan or Louisiana.
Acceptable in Oregon, Kentucky, Kansas, Alaska.
I want them to go to school and sports and parties. Herd immunity is the only way to save most of the elderly. If we intentionally keep kids from being exposed, there will never be herd immunity and old people will continue to die for several years.
Twice that I can recall...one daughter and twin boys!

Not a big deal because if your lungs can handle running, then you don't have the virus.
bekele-is gay should get a Noble Prize for developing the quickest, most cost effective Covid-19 test!! Finally a simple test that I can understand and but I sense plenty of false positives with it...
(Before all the hateful responses - I'm just trying to add a smile to an otherwise sad situation we are dealing with... :)
Kids are going to be kids. There's nothing stupid about it. We were all there at one point.

Requiring people to observe social distancing for health reasons during a pandemic bears no relationship to Nazi genocide. Democracies make laws to protect their citizens, that may in some circumstances require restrictions on individual freedoms. That doesn't make them brutal dictatorships. It is farcical to argue that suggesting a group of school boys should observe social distancing can be equated with the oppression and genocide of the Jews.
1) Sure if you aren't ill you can go out and do whatever you want. How are you going to prove you aren't ill? If we could say who wasn't ill (i.e. it takes days for the infection to show up), it would be easy to stop the spread of the virsus.
2) Not breaking rules and not being stupid aren't the same. I don't know what state they are in or the rules of the state but the general intent of social distancing isn't that you can hang out with 10 friends and be fine. It is to avoid unnecessary interations.
3) 41 states have stay at home orders. Maybe they are in the wrong and the other 9 are right. Or maybe those 9 governors are more concerned about their reelection than they are about not killing off people.
5) Why were you so dumb to infect people you life with? Why weren't you responsible? Or do you hate your kids;)
In the end how we look back at stupid activities will be dictated by the end result. If all 7 of those kids become sick and we have a couple parents die because of it(2 households were the run was the only interaction), everyone will talk about how stupid they were. If no one gets sick we can talk about how it was ok. Odds are you stupid activity will not get you killed. But some percentage of stupidity will result in people dying. If every american was as stupid as these kids we would have millions of deaths. If only .1% is as stupid as they are, it will not move the numbers.

Yep, I watched the video, but if a handful of people who are NOT infected run together, what is the issue?
But how do they know that they are not infected?
