Per the title, I went on my long run today and I saw a group of about 8 guys also long running. They all looked high school age and were clustered in a tight knit pack. I live in a suburban area in a large Midwestern state. At this point, is this acceptable or just plain stupid? I feel like I should have said something but I kept my mouth shut and ran by them at a careful 6 feet distance.
It's stupid. These are things that are happening everywhere I think, but it's still stupid. If there was a coach directing them gather and run together, whether the coach was present or not, then that is unacceptable.
The grandparents and parents need to disown those fools. Drop them from their wills. Force them to go live with the coach. The dumb kids risk killing the hands that feed them.

It is smart and unselfish. They are getting exercise and fresh air. Had their parents and grandparents done the same, they would have been nearly immune to the Kung Flu. But no, the people who live responsibly are being chastised again. Think about the lives of these young people who can't go to school or attend graduation. All lives should matter, not just overweight Gramps who smoked 50 years. Disgusting.

Stupidity of course. But you have to blame websites like letsrun.com for it as well, since they never put good recommendations out there for young runners.

Read the science, nitwit. They're now predicting that cases of Coronavirus in some states could spike in June because people aren't taking social distancing seriously. Big packs of runners deserve the scorn they get. Unless you're living in the same house, you shouldn't be running together. And even then, you need to consider other people. A throng of mask-less runners pushing people off trails or into the street in these times is rude and reckless.
With the Spring season gone, I get that high school and college coaches are telling their teams to start building their base for XC. But if people don't social distance now, XC and other fall sports are less likely to happen. Yes, it's more fun to run with people, but real runners know how to run alone.
Our clown president has no self-control, but runners typically have a lot of discipline. Now is the time to use it. Take the pain now, or drag this out and suffer later. It's really that simple..
You need to actually read those articles more closely. Social distancing is intended to flatten the curve, meaning that we intentionally push the spike date out. So if is predicted as June, it would have spiked in April without social distancing. The more social interaction, the sooner it peaks. Pick your poison. Sounds like you do not understand the science.

Fool. The reason to flatten the curve is access to medical resources. If everyone gets sick at the same a lot more people die. Geez ... it's like you are either a misinformation spreading troll, or just plain stupid.

There's an argument to be made that in the outdoors, moving at some speed, risk of transmission is very low, but nobody knows how low "low" is. They're putting their families at risk.

Everything I said was correct and everything you said is correct. So why the insults of someone who obviously is not as smart as you. A kind person would point out the errors instead of being insulting. Obviously you have no compassion for your fellow man at times like these. Why not point out the misinformation? I was correcting the poster who said that the curve was moving out because of lack of social distancing when social distancing is what pushes the curve out. This fact is brushed over by the experts which causes people to think that social distancing somehow makes this thing spike sooner.
What city? This is not going on where I live.
Sad to say, but I am noticing the same trend with teenagers in my neighborhood. There are 4 households with teens on my street and cars are constantly coming and going with multiple kids in them. The parents are staying home, but to the teens it is business as usual. Walking around together, riding bikes to the local convenience store, going who knows where because the coffee shops, burger joints, etc are all closed. Even school athletic fields and parks are closed, so I don't know what they are doing, but they appear to all be hanging out together.
Paths were unrunnable today. I estimate seeing 200 people on my run but I live in a state that is not locked down. Kids are loving it. Golf courses are open and basketball courts are open and about 1/2 of the schools have tracks and soccer and football fields open.
