any experiences?
I've been in the 900's happily for over a year. Anyone make the switch from the 900's to the 901's?
I was thinking of trying out the Wave Spacer as the H/T ratio is the same as the 900's. I'm afraid it's more of cushioning shoe though...
I cannot yet comment on the 901 (they are scheduled to arrive soon). I have been running in the Wave Spacer. They are actually quite firm and very smooth and stable. The heel may be .5-1mm higher than the 900 and the forefoot could be .5-1mm lower (so the ratio might be just a bit greater), but they still ride low compared to most other shoes. I like the feel, but only wish they were just a bit softer. From what I have tried, the Streak Vapor IV might have the best ratio (20:13) if you are looking for a low ride.
Thanks for the info on the Spacer. I'm trying to find something with a low/stable ride. The 900 are pretty hard, so maybe the Wave Spacer will be similar. I'm going to give the Revolver a hard look too since they might have a little more support then the Spacer and be closer to the 900's.
I agree that the Revolver might be a bit more similar to the 900. Be aware that the Revolver fits very generously - my 900 fits perfectly in 10, but the 9.5 Revolver was too big. (Though the 9.5 Spacer does fit well). Actually the Zoom marathoner is quite similar to the 900 and does have a firmer ride.
I wear a 10.5 in asics DS trainer, but want to switch to the 901's, any suggestions on what size I should go for?
I haven't put the 901 on my foot yet, so I don't know if they fit the same as the 900 or not. I can say that I wore a 10 900 and a 9.5 DS Trainer and they seemed to fit about the same.
Thanks, I'll have a look at the Marathoner too!
I use the Precision V's. I originally bought them for trainers, but I don't particularly like them as trainers. I do still use them in road races and some track workouts, since I don't own any flats and I don't much like training in spikes. They're comfortable and light, but they tend to be a little rough on my big toe- I get tendon irritaton when I run on them too much. The curve on the forefoot (curves up, ecnourages the foot to toe off) puts pressure on those tendons and irritates them. But over shorter distances, they're very comfy and nice and light.
thanks guys.
think I'll give the precision a try for tempo, intervals...
