I’m in Chicago, and it’s bad here. They just turned the McCormick place into a 3000 bed hospital.
715 cases, 18 new deaths today.
Now our numbers are not like New York.
One of the main reason is that Chicago is not testing like New York or Jersey. That’s the main problem. New York has ramped up testing.
Chicago numbers are down because they are not testing everybody. It’s quite sad....
And since we discovered that China has been underreporting their death tolls and cases, it makes me question Chicago’s numbers.
Scorpion_runner- why do you feel testing more will be beneficial?
This is what China and Korea did to limit the curve.
two tests are going to have to be administrated.
1. To see if you are negative or positive. And the purpose of this is to quarantine and truly stop the spread. China tested everyone, and for those who tested positive, they contact traced their steps for the past 14 days. They then sent alerts to all the people in the area that the affected person traveled to and instructed them to get tested. What good is it to have people quarantine and they dont know if they have it or not, but they are going to the store, gas station, etc. This is is how it is spreading via asymptomatic people
2.Now if you test positive, and you get quarantined, and recover, you're going to have to get a second test to see if your body has properly built up antibodies for the virus. That was another mandatory test by China.
Plus you still got CPD, Firemen, store workers, etc still going to work who haven't been tested.
South Korea:
"The country prioritised identifying and isolating people testing positive for the disease, and developed capacity to run about 15,000 diagnostic tests a day. It has conducted more than 300,000 tests to date, free of charge, including in drive-through testing booths since replicated elsewhere."
Iceland
Small and relatively wealthy, the country has a few advantages when it comes to testing, and it has tested a higher proportion of its citizens than anywhere else in the world, including many showing no symptoms of the disease.
“Iceland’s population puts it in the unique position of having very high testing capabilities with help from the Icelandic medical research company deCode Genetics,” Thorolfur Guðnason, Iceland’s chief epidemiologist, told BuzzFeed. He said the testing effort was “intended to gather insight into the actual prevalence of the virus in the community, as most countries are most exclusively testing symptomatic individuals at this time.”
Iceland said fock and that ...we are testing everyone ...SK as well. Those countries aggressively dealt with it, instead of waiting for people to show symptoms ...They attacked it, and were proactive about it.
Hell chicago isn't even testing people with symptoms...telling them to stay home. I wouldn't be surprised if they are quite of few people who live alone who are dead because of it.
