1000/day ? I'm afraid it's going to be a lot worse than that just looking at the number of infected people.
UK deaths have started ramping up dangerously today, nearly 400 vs 180 yesterday, way worse than the Italian, Spanish or French "slopes"...no wonder given the delay in closing things down.
Sooner you get them out of the way, sooner you are over it. More people probably die by stringing it out (slower the curve, more other care is pushed back, more chance of random occurance of someone having the virus as you have to go out every x days to do shopping etc, domestic violence up 30% now since stay at home policy). Only consideration is the health service.
Making it linger on, just destroys whoevers economies more, and makes them in a worse place to get over it, and put better policies in place for future.
