Considering that I won’t be running any races in the near future and I’m in a pretty rural area safe (enough ?) from COVID 19 and I’ll be doing online school for the next couple months, I’ve decided to up my mileage and try to build a stronger base for the next racing season, most likely XC in the fall
I want to be able to consistently run 100km a week, which was previously my peak mileage, all done in singles and honestly pretty tiring. I usually do around 70km a week during track and 85 during xc.
Would it be smarter, after a decent build up, to run 5x a week with a long run (25km), a workout (say 16km) and then 3 doubles of (8-15) and two rest days or would it be smarter to run 6x a week with a long run (20km) a workout (16km) and 4 doubles of (6-10)?
Is there a meaningful benefit that one of these plans brings that the other doesn’t ? Or would you structure it a different way?
Keep in mind the goal of this « plan » is to stay build a good base with burning up as I have are no short term goals.
Thank you in advance !
