I guess coronavirus has some positives, when even the ego-driven masters of this event are humbled. Thanks for the dramatic exit, too.
Waiting on UTMB... no way a race that size in France, Italy will go-on as planned. Average age is 47.
It will be interesting to see if Comrades is held, at this point I think it will be cancelled.
Comrades is in June, definitely not happening.
UTMB is in August, there may be a chance.
10,000 runners for UTMB events over the course of a week. Add another 20,000 for famililes / support crews.
3 of the races go through Northern Italy and Switzerland
Runners from all over the world.
I can't imagine this race isnt cancelled.
Agree, French Open tennis postponed to September, now even that is in jeopardy.

All big events have to be cancelled even if they are in Summer. Maybe even the fall events.
It's not like you can have or not have these event in a moment of notice just like a light switch.
You might pull that off with a smaller running race but not with a huge event like UMTB and Comrades.
Also South Africa is just getting the start of their Corona virus wave.
The way things are starting to unfold now it could be possible all of the Fall Marathons could be in jeopardy including the Spring Marathons that were initially moved to the Fall. If that happens then Fukuoka in December could be loaded.
