You do realize that the US has about 9 times the people as Spain and 6 times the people as Italy, right?

Wishful thinking. I think that's a delay in reporting or updating results on weekends because a only few hours into today, it's up another 3,500 and 80.
Trump has made the numbers classified or classifiable (he keeps changing his mind). States have differing policies, but most governors have decided to publish.
Thanks, prez-o, a fine mess.
Delay in reporting. Most daily totals use GMT in order to simplify country to country comparisons. A huge bucket of new cases came in about 8:30 PM EST last night. Had those been factored into the daily count the trend would look dead on. Instead, we just have a 2600 case head start on today.
Hi Garbage,
Baba Yaga is a disinformation troll. Why don’t you call him out?

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/Noice! USA in a strong 4th position. How long until the USA shows its exceptionalism and overtakes China as numero uno?
I say we pass Spain tonight, Italy by Tuesday, and China by Friday.
The LOWER the Number The Better, of course we will pass up Italy we have what 7 people for every one they have, that curve is NOT Flattening in the USA, Our Doctors, Nurses etc. will be overwhelmed probably in LESS than 2 weeks, many have been putting in long shifts 7 days a week and are exhausted, What happens when they are overwhelmed and Doctors start getting sick in large numbers? This is like a Nightmare, or horror movie, but it is real.
Garbage, where you at?

With that attitude, we'll never take the lead.

We've been seriously testing for, what, a week? OF COURSE THE NUMBER OF CASES IS GOING TO INCREASE EXPONENTIALLY IF OUR TESTING IS ALSO INCREASING EXPONENTIALLY.
The fact of the matter is that the number of deaths in the US has DROPPED for 2 consecutive days. Meanwhile in Italy it's as if each day is just challenging the next to see more deaths.
I seriously wonder if some of you are rooting for the virus at this point just to be "right".

This is a lie.
Yesterday: 302 (+46)
Today: 414 (+112)
Why do you believe our testing has increased exponentially? Interested in sources as this contradicts my own understanding of the situation on the ground.

He believes testing has increased "exponentially" because you-know-who told him...
I'm a physician in the sticks with no documented cases in the county. We use LabCorp. We began testing on Friday for about $59 total. Results in 2-3 days I'm told. I say this just to give you some information.
I am aware of that. Also aware that labcorp and quest do not have enough tests to cover orders. 2-3 days means a significant volume should come in early week.

In part due to the fact that clinicians and public health authorities have come to terms that our testing is so slow it’s really doesn’t make sense to test aggressively.
Best indicator over time, tracking longitudinally, will be hospitalizations and deaths. Will also be the most important factor in terms of stress to the healthcare system, which I guess if self obvious.

It reached the USA later, but it's catching up.

60% of deaths from two countries - still. The answer is always that "we'll catch up to Italy, you'll see"...but on February 15th we had 12 active cases while Italy had 3. How do we determine the number of days that we're "behind".
