I have never come across someone who so struggles with the English language - and yet being a native English speaker - that almost all his communications are directed to explaining what his words mean, because they never speak for themselves. He has to act as his own interpreter and translator. But the end result is never clarity or understanding; even his translations require translation - and yet more translation. It is like a Russian doll, that always has another, and another, hidden within it. It is how he can always be right, because he can only be understood on his own terms - which change as the argument changes. But the need to do that proves what he is most anxious to avoid, that his arguments are too weak to defend on their face.
