If they cancel this years race will baa automatically fill next years race with 2020 entries?
If so I think my running career is over, I was hoping to run it next year but if it’s already going to be full, I can’t justify sucking it up for another year of sacrifice.
LA marathon went on as planned and nothing happened. Are people overreacting to this virus? The majority of people recover from this.
They didn't qualify for the 2021 edition of Boston. New group next year.
Many of the qualifiers are being canceled. Boston (the biggest qualifier) is likely to be canceled. Who is going to run 2021? I don't think they need to save a lot of spots for the 2021 qualifiers. A deferment makes a lot of sense. I've also heard rumors (online...just rumors) of a Columbus Day reschedule. That would definitely throw a wrench in lots of plans, including those who are registered to run Chicago.
There is a lot more to be worried about than this stuff right now.
Boston will be postponed 3 months.
What's your method of analysis (including time frame) for "nothing happened"? Were you expecting instantaneous effects?
Seems like they're talking postponement to the fall but if they cancel altogether I think you could look at expanding the field like they did for the 100th Boston Marathon. I know it's tough with the congested start but you could add another 10k or so runners & break it down the same qualifier to charity runner ratio. Doesn't seem perfect but could work for a year.

Local hospitals

And don’t forget the thousands of porta johns from hopkinton to Boston
Just the thought all those ports johns would be enough for me to cancel if I was the director
