Yale named the men's champ and rep to the NCAA tourney. Huge blow for the athletes on other teams.

It's the newest fad. Cancel!
That's a disgrace and an embarrassment.
Why don't they simply do what they did here in Baltimore - play the games with no fans?
If you are going to do that, you might as well just cancel all sporting events, call classes and tell the kids not to come out of the dorms.
What a joke. Seriously. So the teams can go play in even larger stadiums in two weeks at NCAAs?
I thought the OP might be joking but it's real.
Steve Donahue, the Penn basketball coach and a great guy (was at Cornell when I was there), nailed it when he said the following to the Inquirer:
Donahue cited “the inconsistencies” in the decision: “To have to tell kids their seasons and their careers are over, while lacrosse teams are going off to play games and wrestlers are going to nationals. ... If you’re letting Yale go to the NCAA tournament -- if they’d said across the board, we’re shutting down all sports, you’d understand.”
The more I think about it the more this pisses me off as it reminds me the administrators really have no idea what sports mean to the athletes. These kids have played their whole lives, dreaming for March Madness. Now for the seniors, that's it.
Unless you are cancelling all sporting events, then this is a really ridiculous decision.
Imagine what happens when the Ivies cancel school mid year and then tell the parents they have to pay another 40k for the semester next year.
Apparently other ivy league athletic events will continue to happen with limit 3 spectators per athlete. NO CONSISTENCY
As a Yale fan I think this is a joke.
Play without fans before you cancel
If it really is the point you have to cancel then that means the NCAA tourney should be cancelled.
Does anyone else find it weird that the people cancelling everything first are the Ivy League and expensive private schools in the Northeast?
It's where helicopter parenting originated.

OMG it's the democrats fault, amirite? LOL!
So a regular season lacrosse game can be held with limited fans but not the Ivy League tournament?

I do not find it weird that a collection of some of the smartest people in our country are taking this seriously and looking at how things are playing out in other countries. They are trying to get ahead of things before it blows up in their face.
I agree they should play in empty arenas, as Ive been saying for nearly a month now would be likely to happen as the only alternative to full cancellations.
“Ball is life” means nothing to most administrators. “Safety first” is much more important.

... like that will change their minds.
If you can get Trump to say “Good idea!” they’d reconsider real quick.
Wondering if Penn Relays will be canceled???

No official word yet, but Jamaica has released their "advice" about the Penn Relays:
https://twitter.com/kayraynor/status/1237436076484165632Ivy League basketball has had a conference tournament only since 2017. Before then, the regular-season champ went to the NCAA tournament. So the Ivies are used to this. Conference tournaments, for the most part, are silly, and the Ivy League should just go back to making the regular season count for everything.

Sounds reasonable.
Normally of course we would have a sane President providing guidance.
