Don't take it personally, but, as others have indicated, this is one of the oldest and most debated questions on here. What they hate (and I'm with them) is that too maany downplay how tough the 800 is. While the logic that running a 50 would be easy for the 44 guy may make sense, it's just not true. What I dislike is that such assertions seem to almost impliedly downplay the achievement of Coe and Wilson K. what could Wariner run right now? I don't know, but probably nothing faster than 1:48.
When I was younger I ran 800 and 1500 meters and I can tell you that 400 is a much different race and actually much harder. But the best 400 guys couldnt keep up with me once I hit the 500 mark.
You also train much differentl for 400 than 800, 400 is for sprinters and 800 and above is for semi-long distance runners.
ok i have to agree that if jeremey warner would use some of that God given talent, and just build up his stamina, instead of being a pansy, and try running like a mile, he could make a killing.

I know a guy that after years of running 1:46 for 800m, got sick of not improving so moved up to the 1500m. He ran 3:35 with more endurance training and ran an 800m race to see how he wud get on. He got 1:43! he told me that his legs felt so fresh in the last 100m, the reason being the endurance training directed at 1500. Wariner has said that he thinks he's capable of running 42secs for the 400m. I think if he does eventually move up to the 800m, that cud be his answer. I think that Wariner+could+be+very+successful+at+the+800m+aswell+because+of+his+slim+physique.+It+would+be+hugely+impressive+if+he+were+to+do+the+400m/800m+double+in+London+2012.+Im+not+saying+every+400m+runner+could+move+up+to+800m+and+be+successful.+Wariners+unique+because+of+his+slim+build+and+sheer+speed.+LaShawn+Merritt+wud+be+terrible+at+800m.
