I am not pronouncing one way or another on Jacobs or Pozdynakova but, forgive me, but this is nakedly bad logic:
"How many american 48-year old women are out there doing 120 miles a week, including 2 weekly long runs? How many 48-year old GUYS do that? Hell, how many posters on this board train harder than Poz and have run faster than 3:56 1500m AND 2:29 marathon?"
You don't sincerely believe that "drug accusers" are accusing drug users of laziness? Don't you people get it yet? Drugs FACILITATE hard work, they are not a replacement for it. Show me your hardest workers (given that hard work produces varying gains in different "clean" people as well as between the clean and the dirty) and those are more likely the ones on drugs. I gurantee you, all those doped up bodybuilders spend hours a day in the gym. Would it deflect attention from their doping if I said "They spend 6 hours a day in the gym - so it is obviously the hard work - have you done that?" Of course, you haven't, because if you aren't doping 6 hours a day won't produce any more benefits than 2 hours.
Don't they teach y'all rational thought in HS anymore or are they just too busy helping you with your self-esteem?
Repeat after me - people use steroids because their work ethic outstrips their ability to benefit by it, not as a substitute for work.
We are never going to clean up this sport until people realize that world class athletes are talented driven people and those that use drugs do so because they have convinced themselves that it SHOULD be all about hard work (not differing genetic capacities to benefit thereby) and have recognized that their body can't handle and improve by the work they are willing to do.
And, besides, didn't Pozdynakova serve a drug suspension in her youth?
