Make people laugh.
I am in good health. 8 months ago I ran a 10K in 54 minutes at age 59, then 4 weeks later I had a heart attack. Extraordinarily lucky. Haven't missed a beat. No pain throughout the incident. Bounced back immediately.
Appreciate everything. There's a crescent moon tonight with the planet Venus next to it.
When my wife tells me that my heart stopped and I was not breathing for one minute, I say the following:
They said I was dead, I denied it.
thank you, I do pray and I do believe but I haven't given my life To God. I value my worldly possessions too much even knowing they are useless in the afterlife.

Maybe that was a good thing. All of us are here for only a limited amount of time. The only difference is the amount of time left. Most of us don't realize our time is limited and therefore is very valuable.
Maybe you are aware of that more clearly know.
The only difference between a 55 yr old who is told he has only 1 year to live and a healthy 55 year old is time. The healthy one might have 19 more years but the end result is the same.
They both need to figure out what to do with their limited time.
Your plan is very good. Well thought out and heartfelt.
Only thing I question, and it makes the whole issue different for me (and at 83 I'm not buying any green bananas) is that "other side" deal. I never could get what would be so scary about death, if it isn't death, and that youre expecting to pass over to Elysian fields or some heavenly reward?!!
Not that I'd want to be ushered into such a place, virgins and ambrosia notwithstanding, because I would be confused and...well it's just unimaginable to me.
And no choice in the matter? Count me out!

Do you ever ponder your legacy. The mark you have made in this world?

Hard to describe. My heart attack was a blip on the screen. I was always aware of our limited time in this existence. Now I am not afraid of the end.
Spend whatever you have and rack up as much credit card debt as you can. You won't have to pay it back when you're dead.
Do all of the forbidden things while you can. Hookers, drugs, driving 125 mph on the highway, etc.
Alternatively, sell whatever you have, get as much cash as you can, and sign up for cryonics. You'll have a one in a million chance of being revived eventually, which is infinitely better than no chance at all.
Reconcile with God and try to live in a state of grace.
I know that this is not easy but it is necessary and very vital.
Just remember that death is the end of our journey here on earth and the BEGINNING OF ETERNITY with the Lord (for those who make it).
So, everything we do should be geared towards that end.
I will quote a saint by the name Maximiliano Kolbe (who offered to die for another prisoner in Auschwitz).
He said; " It is for us to become holy here and now, for we cannot be certain whether we will be here this evening."
So, "We must sanctify ourselves at every moment, for we know not if the next will be ours...."
So, you have hinted that you are in your last days (literally).
It matters now what earthly things you do here on earth.
We are only here for a time (even if our good Lord gives you (us) a long life (a hundred years).
When that time is over, we all die and ETERNITY BEGINS!
It is that other life that we should all be concerned about.
Yes we can all decide to enjoy life here onearth...........there is NOTHING wrong with that at all.
We can build our lives here on earth and even build careers, businesses, huge organisations e.t.c. but all that goes to waste (as far as we are concerned) the moment we die.
We leave them to others.
The question that so many of us ignore is this; HAVE WE INVESTED IN THE OTHER LIFE?
That is where we'll spend our eternity.
When our life on earth ends, our life on earth ends. That's it. Period. Full stop. End of sentence!
Everything we did on earth becomes meaningless (to us who have died). Your estate is inherited by other people whether we like it or not.
The second we die, eternity begins!
So, I'll not bore you much. Go to Disneyland, skydive, take a cruise ship e.t.c . but even more importantly, get your spiritual life together and spend more time in prayer.
Ask God for forgiveness, confess your sins, be kind to others, mend your relationship with others ........family, friend,s co-workers, neighbours et al and seek God's mercy.
This is the best that you can do............this is the best that anybody can do.
It is not easy but work on it and all the best.
Finally, mikeh33 here gave you priceless advice. Please follow it. You will be well served.
That is my two shillings worth of opinion.
Again, all the best.
I would go to all the important places where all the important Gods are most likely to notice me and kiss up to them all as best I can and hope the other Gods don't notice.
Not really,
Let’s use this time to Saladbar you to the gills with every performance enhancing drug possible and at maximum levels. I want a 9:59 min 5k out of you before this is over! We’ll call it the Salazos breaking 10 project.
Bang you're wife daily.
I’m afraid I don’t approve that as part of the training plan. Defy me and YOU’RE out.

None of that would be meaningful or make me happy.
Just sleep until you die.

I don't know exactly how long. It could be months or it could be weeks. I feel good right now, I have energy and feel no discomfort, but I know it won't last.
So what should I do with my remaining time? Money is a factor for me so I have to be careful.
What do you guys plan to do with what remains of your life? I know some of you have more time than others.
For starters, I would get off this running message board. You'll never think with your last breath, "I wish I had read more garbage on letsrun."
Then sit down for 30 minutes and figure out what you want to do. This is a very personal question and there is no right or wrong answer.
I get that maybe you're trying to brainstorm ideas by posting here, but realize that you're hopefully vastly different than the majority of posters here and even if you get 10% of the replies that are honest and helpful, they may not apply to you.

Only megalomaniacs care about a "legacy". Some of them have done terrible things to the world in a quest to control their "legacy". You know their names, no need to repeat them here.
Normal people understand that the future has no room for sentimentality. Live your best life now and leave the future to the ones who will inhabit it. Let them determine what is important to themselves.
