Dude,
What are you talking about? What is with this almost god-like worshiping? Get a grip of yourself! He posted on this board becasue he wanted to, period. How is that your posting is any different from his? Maybe you are a loser and need someone to come along and tell you things you should know yourself? You are disgusting me! Think for yourself! Oops, I forgot, you don't think for yourself.

After all the abuse and crap he has received from Trolls on this site, still he comes back to inform us with insights that most of us would otherwise never dream of knowing.
From all of us who love running, thank you so much, Renato, for continuing to bless us with your contributions. Please, please keep them coming...
I agree completely. I'll add only that the appreciative fans of track -- and informed insight -- are vastly more numerous, if far less visible, than the trolls here.
Thanks Renato.
Renato,
Is Shaheen running any more meets? If so, is he planning on trying to reset the steeple world record?
For anyone who read the article posted on the front page regarding the "scare" in the 10k, did you guys notice how many times those kenyans used phrases like "I would have, but..." It was at least good for a laugh on how not to proceed as a journalist. But I'm agreed with the post thanking Canova. It's good to see that big players in the track world who actually know what they are talking about still post here.
As an eternally hopeful Kenyan, waiting for the day that a new Rono will emerge to challenge the Ethiopian (track) distance running hegemony, I must admit the 10,000 results were quite encouraging..... However, I have to agree that Kenny B is from a different planet!! He is the complete package: Endurance, speed and with the psychological edge that differentiates the truly great (like Geb) from the great (like Tergat).
Mosop did well and I hope the race has given him a boost....he should have won the silver, but I don't think he could quite believe that he was still in contention at the bell and let the Ethiopians get a few yards on him....
I was even more impressed by the 19 year old Mathathi, who ran the race without any fear....he doesn't have the finishing kick to live with Bekele, but (as a sub 45, 10 miler), will probably be soon able to race at a pace that may cause even Bekele to sweat a bit.
I also can't wait to see the 18 year old Samuel Wanjiru.... 27.08 and a sub 60 half marathon in the picture...
Mosop, Mathathi, Wanjiru, Choge, Songok and Kipchoge, all under 22 years old..... The future may be quite bright, but I'm yet to be convinced that there is a real challenger to Bekele amongst them!
For those who watched the Olympics 10k, the Ethiopians were in a class of their own. The Kenyans, Kamathi and Korir especially, were outclassed.
In Helsinki, it was a different outcome. I am well aware of Bkeele's personal tribulations and misfortune and it might as well have played a part. That said, this race gave me hope as a Kenyan because it was a psychological booster.
I know that Bekele is more superior to Geb, and that there is no Kenyan yet who is like Tergat- hence the gap, but I see no reason why Ethiopian should sweep the men's 10k. I refuse to take any explanation. Sihine is just a good runner who will always have a bad race and I still maintain that he is beatable at the 10k. Bekele no!
Thanks Renato and congratulations. You are a great coach.
this was stupid
"if i had a good kick i couldve taken bekele"
plain stupidity..
i might as well say "well if i was as fast as bekele, i can take him"
fact is you dont have a kick like him so you cant take him. shut it and take your loss like a man.

In this program, we use a lot of sprint uphill from 60 to 200m, or workouts like the last one on Monday, 1st of August, with 7 couples of 1200m plus 400m with 2 min between tests and 4 min between couples. in 3 07 / 3 09 and 56 5 > 57 5. Other workouts, 5 x 2000m in 5 23 rec. 400m in 1 40.
26:55 pace -- 64.6 400m
I am finally understanding this, 400m recovery in 1:40 after each. That's a very short recovery, especially considering the effort of the 2k's, the recoveries are not easy.
Renato,
Were the recoveries also active after the 1200m / 400m couples, or just resting between those?
